Forums - Sales - Non-first party million sellers chart

Guess what, the formatting is messed up...but I don't have the time to fix it. Anyway, here are all the million sellers that are not published by the console manufacturers. Btw, which of these are 2nd party?

The numbers are millions sold WW. I hope the sorting is OK, I just did a manual insert sort...

Xbox 360 is all over this.

Yes, it would be interesting to compare the same timeframe against the X360. Compare Wii to PS3 and the Wii doesn't look too bad.

Then it looks like this:

Wii 4.03 Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Sega
PS3 2.95 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Activision
PS3 2.51 Assassins Creed Ubisoft
Wii 2.37 Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock RedOctane
Wii 1.75 Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition Capcom
Wii 1.60 Carnival Games Global Star
PS3 1.45 Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Konami
Wii 1.32 Rayman Raving Rabbids Ubisoft
PS3 1.29 FIFA 08 Electronic Arts
Wii 1.27 Sonic and the Secret Rings Sega
Wii 1.16 Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Capcom
PS3 1.15 Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock RedOctane
PS3 1.14 Need for Speed: ProStreet Electronic Arts
PS3 1.12 Devil May Cry 4 Capcom
Wii 1.12 Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga LucasArts
Wii 1.05 Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 Ubisoft
Wii 1.05 Red Steel Ubisoft
Wii 1.02 MySims Electronic Arts

But do third party developers say to themselves "but look at the time frame" when deciding where to put their game?

No. They simply look at a console's ability to make profit for third parties.

@StarCraft

No, no you don't get his point. He means that comparing them is unfair because X360 has been out for twice as long, and therefore has sold more.

(Now me)

Wii games cost 1/4 to make (or so, according to NJ5 in news) and quality is also lower. That makes it cost about 1/5 or 1/6. For instance; I'm certain that Red Steel made more money than Bioshock (on 360)

But still, very impressive by X360.

Yes, of course. And so they should. But my point (in response to that) is that the market is changing. What does the sales of a game launched in 2007 say about the potential sales for your upcoming game in 2008? Different install base, different competition, so it's not that straightforward.

As for the chart, it will be interesting to see what Wii's great hardware sales will do to it in a year.

Oh, I did just copy & paste from the Million sellers. I'm sure there are a few titles that will pass 1M on the next update.
