No. They simply look at a console's ability to make profit for third parties.

Yes, of course. And so they should. But my point (in response to that) is that the market is changing. What does the sales of a game launched in 2007 say about the potential sales for your upcoming game in 2008? Different install base, different competition, so it's not that straightforward.

As for the chart, it will be interesting to see what Wii's great hardware sales will do to it in a year.
