Haha im glad too. I was hoping we would go back to back with hopes of switch 2 outselling ps5 for the 3peat, but ill settle for winner of 9th gen, its a small thing at the end of the day

Interesting sidenote, no company in history has 3peated yet.

Wii won 7th generation.
Switch won 8th generation.
Switch 2 will win 9th generation.

Sony has not won a generation since the PS2 era. What a bunch of failures.

Yeah i mean even if consensus (on here) is that switch is 9th gen, i really believe it is 8th gen, and if it is, it means the 3peat is still in play. I think this is something that we really have to consult console experts on. There are people who study this stuff and are big into the history. So really, its their consensus that i will take seriously. If that group of people determine its 9th gen, then fine, sony wins 8th gen and broke up the 3peat. 

Where does the Wii-U fit into this though? We just ignore it because it failed? How can Nintendo have two 8th gen consoles when they released 5 years apart?

Nobody is ignoring the Wii U, its just pointless to talk about because its irrelevant to this discussion. It finished 4th place in that generation, behind xbox one
