Man Xbox Series being down about 80% YoY this week is just absurd. It's selling like its successor has been out for a while but the next Xbox is probably still a couple years away so I am morbidly curious just how low its sales are gonna get by 2027. It's gonna get to a point where I dunno if it would even make sense to manufacture it any more. For the Switch 1 80% down points to a rapid decline outside of Japan.

The crazy thing is that in many countries, Xbox series is already doing late stage Wii U numbers in sales numbers this year. So if the next Xbox hardware is slated to release late 2027, that would be like Nintendo launching the Switch in 2020 and having the Wii U on the market for 3 extra years. Mindshare must be non existant in a lot of markets outside the US for the next Xbox if that timeline happens.

Going by sales, Xbox actually needed a new console on the market more than Nintendo this year, because Xbox is selling less than Switch 1 on a monthly basis this year even after Switch 1 got replaced by Switch 2.

Except a new Xbox releasing early would do absolutely nothing. Why would anyone buy it? Current Xbox is very expensive as is. A new Xbox without exclusives would be pointless to 99% of gamers.

Switch succeeded because it had amazing and popular games that you couldn't play outside the platform, in addition to solid 3rd party support, portability، and decent prices.

The only way for MS to hope to compete as a platform holder, is to forget about expanding as a 3rd party publisher, price their consoles reasonably, and return to exclusivity that adds a ton of value to the platform. Otherwise, the vast majority of gamers would continue to choose PC or Playstation or Switch over it.

The ratio between PS5 and Xbox was 92:1. That is insane..

This is really crazy PS5 is the best Games-Console this year, again.

and the epic "Ghost of Yotei" and creative "Death Stranding 2" alone have given me more fun, impressive graphics/details and fascination than all xbox games of the last few years combined. Furthermore, the new Wolverine game for PS5 will be released next year. Now is the perfect time to enter a new era.

Personally, it doesn't surprise me; the xbox series is dead worldwide – especially in Asia, Europe, Canada and Brazil. And some stores have already removed xbox from their inventory (UK/Canada/Japan..). And another reason, its official: Microsoft wants to release all xbox games on PlayStation 5 now/in future; they have no other choice. I believe that this Christmas we will see a new PS5 record - and at the same time a negative record for xbox. The Black Friday week in Spain and the rest of the world suggests it. After all the bad news from Microsoft (in the last 2 years), they deserved it ("AI" is more important than real employees, everything has become more expensive - even though M$ is by far richer than all other companies, many microtransactions in M$-games, game studios closed/games canceled, etc.) -.-

The rate of collapse is still wild to me considering that it actually sold fairly well the first couple years. I wonder if this is the biggest collapse in sales for a major console platform in history.
