Forums - Sales - Spain sales Nov 17th-23rd 2025- PS5 outsells Switch 2 by over 4:1

A record-breaking launch doesn't mean everything. Many people base their assessments on the Switch 2 launch. If the Switch 1 or the PS5 had had the same stock as the Switch 2, they would have had the same sales at launch. I work at Micromania in France. In my store, Switch 2 sales aren't that strong; we sell far more PS5s than Switch 2s. The problem is the price. Customers find it too expensive and don't see any difference compared to the Switch 1. As a result, they prefer to go for the PS5 or keep their Switch 1. This is also why stores in France have further reduced their profit margins on the Switch 2, because from what I've heard from colleagues at Fnac and Auchan, it's the same situation there. I'm not saying it doesn't sell, sales are good, but not that strong, and there isn't that much enthusiasm for the Switch 2 compared to the Switch 1. The lack of games doesn't help either.

(i) How is the cheapest console too expensive for those purchasing a PS5? (ii) lol meanwhile i’ve had to skip two games (Legends Z-A & AoI), the rest are stuck in my backlog (MKWorld, DKBananza, KARs), and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases in five days. This is such a weird line especially when noting that the library of Switch 2 games eclipses that of not just Switch 1, but literally any other Nintendo system, thanks in large part to (i) backwards compatibility and (ii) aggressive third-party support.

Also, since when do the Spaniards care about game variety? Don’t they just play Madden and FIFA? It’s like how the US eats up GTA and CoD.

Next Sony numbers will be announced in January ?

And lastly… why was the thread even created? The PS5 walloped NS2 on a week where it received a heavy discount, in a market which is much more favorable to Sony. This comes off more as console warring than anything: cherry-picking a single week and comparing the two big systems on a week where one system receives a heavy discount.

Because official charts are important ?

But only during the singular week in which PS5 gets a heavy discount, wallops NS2, and is headlined “PS5 outsells NS2 4:1”? That’s not merely opening an innocent discussion pertaining to sales data; that’s console warring.

“I see Spain chart here every week.” Could you point me to them? I could genuinely just not be seeing them. From what I’ve found, however, this isn’t true.

Additionally, I take no issue whatsoever with posting sales charts. What I take issue with is the blatantly provocative context of this specific sales chart. Look at the title, and the context of this being one of the only instance of such a sales data chart being posted from Spain in nearly two months, and tell me with a straight face that this doesn’t rub you in an off-putting manner. Do that with the Famitsu data, I’ll take issue with it there as well.

Edit— Ya know what, I think I’ve convinced myself: I’ll start posting the weekly Spanish charts on VGChartz moving forward. Just to avoid instances like these, where charts are being used in a weaponized manner.

Thinking the NS2 is too expensive and "not seeing any difference" compared to the antecessor, while not seeing those same problems but worse on the PS5 is hilarious. The Sony marketing must really be very strong in Europe.

The spain charts are a staple. More attention has been drawn to this one because the sales reference in the the header but I think that is fine. This is a peculiar week which is why its worth a reference.

You don't need to try and sterilise the forum in fear of negativity being drawn to Nintendo or anyone for that matter. If this was a weekly occurence (4:1) I would understand seeing the headline as unnecessary but its a rare feat. I also think its good the headline actually drew peoples attention to the chart and sales dynamics in different places. We all need to chill.
