These are valid points on the franchise's story, but it hinges on Miles what's-his-face being a pest hanging around for a tutorial's length while we already know there are five of these dudes, and God only knows how long they'll actually be there annoying and hindering you.
I don't think anyone is afraid or complaining about some dude talking, most people liked Fusion and Corruption, and they had that, but looking at Other M shows that there are absolutely very poor, immersion-breaking ways this stuff can be implemented, and given how few and far between Metroid games are, I think the PTSD is valid. |
I mean, the very first response to this thread is someone saying that bringing NPCs in general to the Metroid franchise is enough to make him uninterested. So yeah, I think people are actually afraid about some dude talking (there are MANY people complaining about this everywhere on the Internet).
As for the other marines, we don't know anything about them besides a few seconds of footage for each one from the last trailer. And based on that, they seem to be at the very least far more tolerable, interesting and competent than Miles. Then again, sure, they could end up being annoying. We don't know.
Other M had many flaws, but the implementation of the Federation soldiers wasn't one of them. They were barely around except for Anthony (who I think was a decent/good character) and Adam, who reprises his Fusion role as the NPC that constantly tells you were to go and what to do. So no, I don't get why people are having PTSD from Mr. Mackenzie here.
Again, I could understand doubting this part of the game is gonna be good. Or being slightly concearned. In the end we won't know how the game will be until it launches (very soon thankfully), so having doubts is valid. Going nuts over it though... I don't think it's a reasonable reaction. Specially from so many people (which again, many have been proven to either not know much about the series or just being extremely forgetful).
