Got a PC, no money but a lot of time? Get this, I do not care if half the internet hates on League of Legends. The varied game modes, the competition and the cooperations this game give you are great. And the music is awesome as well. Mobas are not my genre, but friends is.
One of a handfull games that made me cry. And it is a music game. How does that even work? Fast paced music numbers where your performance deterimine how the story goes. The DS sparked a lot of unique games.
If you like music games and have a DS, pick this up. It is strange but good.

5) The second best JRPG which starts underground and inside people's minds and naturally ends on a scyscraper
4) The best puzzle game which starts underground and then goes further underground and naturally ends on the moon
3) The best open-world RPG where you fight humans with steel and monsters with silver
2) The best RTS which had the worst remaster (but it's mostly cleaned up now, only took them 5 years)
1) The best JRPG and video game where you go on a journey to regenerate a dying world

Larian did something with this game that made the world feel real. Interactions with the environment affect the turn based combat system in a way that seemed logical. You will think about the fight outside of the actual combat.
If you like deep battle systems in your RPGs go play Divinity Original Sin, the second game or Baldurs Gate 3. To me they are great for the same reasons. But the first Original Sin game is still my favorite. Great to play with your long distance girlfriend as well.

If you play for the story and never replay games. This is the one for you.
This 3D envorionment puzzler is iconic. The amount of mental innovation that went into creating this game are about as fascinating as the game itself.
Recommended for anyone who want to unlock new parts in your brain for problem solving that you did not know was there, are you thinking in portals yet?
Mario Kart is always great. I have played almost every entry extensivly. This is the only one I return to. The battle modes without time limit make for some intense couch multiplayer.
Recommended for people who are still friends with their siblings and do not want to be for a moment.
Simultiaon games need two things for me to be intreasting. Strategic elements and humor. Theme hospital have plenty of both. Since the patients are vomiting in the waitingroom, you might have to hire an extra janitor even if the only one available nibbles on the nurses heinies.
For anyone not aspiring to be a medical doctor with their laugh engine still intact.
Pokémon. Best game from the best generation. Soulsilver or Heartgold might be a better pick if you want more creatures and better grapics. But the 250 mons present in this game hits a sort of sweetspot for me. And the design had yet to deteriorate into piles of garbage and ice cream cones.
If you played the original but are on the fence on if you should try another game, do it.
