Forums - Gaming - Next Halo? Max Payne 3? Rock Band 2?

On the next Halo project:

Our spies tell us to expect a third-person action/adventure shooter hybrid that takes place before the original Halo, chronicling early skirmishes between the ODST troops and the Covenant. This may or may not be the oft-mentioned "Peter Jackson Halo Project" -- though apparently Microsoft is hiring a seperate team for that -- but WETA is definitely involved in some capacity. Look for a massive reveal around the time Gears of War 2 ships this fall...

On Max Payne 3, Red Dead Revolver 2, and L.A. Noire:

Just as Grand Theft Auto IV prepares to kick off the hooker-beating season, we hear that publisher Rockstar has plenty of other projects in the works. Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Revolver 2 are headed to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as is the previously PS3-only gumshoe adventure L.A. Noire. Also, a massively multiplayer extension of the GTA universe is in the early stages of development.

On Rock Band 2 and the next Guitar Hero:

And amid (highly believable) rumors that the next Guitar Hero iteration will somehow incorporate additional instruments into the mix, we're hearing that this fall's Rock Band 2 from EA won't introduce any new musical hardware. Wannabe glockenspiel virtuosos will instead have to make do with a few new gameplay modes and enhanced visuals.

Well, 1up's rumours have a fairly decent track record, and most of those are quite plausible.

The only thing I'd highly doubt is the massively multiplayer GTA game from RockStar. IV is just around the corner, and Realtime Worlds is already making 'that' game with APB.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

L.A. Noire: We already knew with a fair bit of certainty it would hit the Xbox 360.

Halo: I've been wondering what Microsoft's big shooter would be for 2009, but I still hope they get Perfect Dark together in addition to something Halo.

Max Payne 3: It's good to hear that it is in development. I was wondering whether it might be 360 exclusive, but I guess all Microsoft could/wanted to get from the developers was Alan Wake exclusivity.

uh oh....can it break the launch record?

Microsoft is financing Alan Wake, so it's definitely Xbox console-exclusive.

Yeah I knew that. I just meant that due to the closeness of their relationship with Remedy Entertainment, perhaps they had also secured Max Payne 3 exclusivity.

It'll be interesting to see what Remedy can do with the more modern technology when it comes to things like slowing time, tracking bullets etc.

You mean like things done in FEAR and Project Origin?

Yep. But I reckon Remedy will do it far better than in Fear. (Is Project Origin even out yet?)

No...I expect a fall 2008 release. I expect it to be amazing as I loved FEAR :)
