Forums - Movies & TV - Bad movies that are still great fun

I dont really enjoy watching movies I find bad, but I do like some video game movies like Super Mario Bros, Tekken, Hitman, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Rampage etc...which many others see as bad movies.

Anyone ever hear of Dark Star? It was written by the the guy who wrote Alien (Dan O’Bannon) and directed by John Carpenter and features three astronauts and a beach ball, I mean alien, on a space ship. I think it’s pretty fantastic.

Yeah I have it in my DVD collection. It's amazing what you can do on a low budget.

Probably will look awful on blu-ray but it got released on it

First movie of George Lucas also comes to mind, getting more relevant today :/

Not bad movies, student movies on low budget.

Absolutely. But some people can’t separate budget from quality and just think they made bad choices as film makers. I think the beach ball is perfect as they knew they didn’t have a budget and wore that shoestring on their sleeve with that character.

Are you familiar with a band called Pinback? They got their name from O’Bannon’s character (quite an amazing character, btw) and they use audio cues in their songs and even Talby gets his own song. That’s actually how I heard about the film. I can tell you it’s an absolutely amazing experience to watch the movie after listening to the albums for years and hundreds of playthroughs.

Dark Star is cult classic...it's low budget, but there's nothing bad about it.

The Room I guess. Id assume someone else has mentioned it already since Its the gold standard of terrible movies that are just so enjoyable and hilarious not on purpose.

I am myself a fan of Shyalaman's The Happening. Its so funny not on purpose and Walbergh is so misscast in that.

Deep Blue Sea

Godzilla (1998)

Not Troll 2, It's so bad it stinks.
