Forums - Sales - XBOX accounts for only 13% of console sales in the United Kingdom in 2025

To be expected. There is no reason at all anymore to get an Xbox these days. It has no exclusives and after price hikes, it isn't even that good of a deal anymore compared to a PC. The console has no purpose anymore. There are only hardcore fans left, and there obviously aren't too many of those.

The thing is, even if you are a non-PC gamer and strictly play on consoles, a PS5 is simply the better Xbox. All former Xbox exlusive games come or will come to the PS5 anyway and most probably all day 1 in future or at least relatively near to the launch.

On top of that, you have all the first party PS5 console exlusives and a ton of Japanese and indie-games which never will come out on Xbox. There's really no reason anymore for an Xbox. Even Game Pass with its recent price increase has lost a lot of its appeal for many gamers.

Yeah I was gonna say the UK is sort of like a mini USA in terms of their gaming tastes (though less keen on Ninty than the yanks) so Xbox having just 13% marketshare there is dire.

As someone who had an original Xbox back in the day, it's sad seeing the brand on its deathbed, even if its understandable after how horrendously Microsoft have handled the brand for the last 12 years. Not even 90s Sega was this hellbent on self-destruction.

The issues go back further than 12 years. Though I guess it became obvious when they revealed the Xbox One. I can only imagine how different things would be if the Xbox One launched a year earlier in 2012 without Kinect for $399 and Halo 4 as a cross-gen launch title.

Im actually surprised its as high as 13%.

Not at all. The UK gaming tastes made them a perfect market for Xbox, the UK is a market that loves western realistic AAA games, shooters, sports games, with Japanese games and all things weeb being seen as nerdy and niche. If anything, its a gigantic fumble for Microsoft that Nintendo is selling better than Xbox in that market, because the UK has all the gaming preferences that would be perfect for a console like Xbox to perform well in. A well run Xbox would see Xbox miles above Nintendo in the UK and very competitive with PS, just by the nature of the market and which games perform well there.

Yea I get the UK is definitely one of Microsoft's only dominant markets left, but even in the U.S sales been abysmal so id expect 13% to be a bit high even for UK.

I expected much lower than that and for moral reasons too!
