Another setback for the Trump regime
Campaign against Iran falls flat after Time magazine deletes story on deaths
In a huge setback to the anti-Iran campaign in the West, the website of the prestigious Time magazine has deleted a story that claimed 30,000 people had died in the recent government crackdown in the Islamic Republic. Rifat Jawaid questions the dubious role played by the UNHRC and the sustained campaign against Iran to justify future US military strikes.
Makes me sleep a bit easier, bit less likely Trump is going to bomb Iran again to take attention away from Ukraine, Gaza, Epstein, Peace board, Venezuela, Greenland, Davos, ICE. Trump is running out of plates to spin.

My opinion on the Irani conflict: the theocratic wing of the government is terrible and has to go. But Trump is not the one to do it. That would be counterproductive
If Trump attacks, he’ll likely not take down the government let alone the regime. The result will be (similar to last time he attacked them, and other times the US took action) an increase in pro-theocracy support among the people. The revolts will die back for years to come, and the regime will grow stronger. And probably with a more pro-Moscow sentiment, since Putin is playing the saviour.
The best way to deal with it is to let the Iranian people solve Iran. But every time they get close, “the mighty US comes to help!” They fail, and Iran just slips back into a more pro-theocratic state. And this keeps getting repeated.
Either this is intentional, or every US President since Carter outside of Obama and George HW is that damn incompetent. To be fair on Carter, he was the first to react to the Revolution, but his actions had bad results. And to be fair to Clinton, I don’t know a lot about Clinton/Iran and haven’t really thought about it.

Trump's solution is the same solution Truman and Eisenhower had: to hand Iran back over to the Pahlavi family.
The Pahlavis basically treat Iran like it's their own personal property. Muhammad Reza's SAVAK was a brutal secret police force. They got ousted twice and still think they have a divine right to rule Iran. They need to shut the fuck up, go away, and thank their lucky stars the Iranian people didn't give them the same fate the Romanovs got.
Iran tried free and fair elections. The result was that Mosaddegh got ousted for telling the British government that Iran was entitled to benefit from their own oil.
