Your original comment implied that "it looks a little last gen" (V-Rock's comment) partly because the devs had the Switch 2 in mind, which isn't exactly true, because most "current gen only" games also pretty much target Switch 2 level hardware or weaker as the minimum requirement (with some optimized for SteamDeck as "SteamDeck Verified"). Graphics not looking great doesn't have much to do with the Switch 2 in this case. The game's minimum requirements are probably well below Switch 2's specs anyway. A game can be designed with Switch 2 in mind and still have amazing graphics. Rift Apart can run on PC's much weaker than a Switch 2 and it looks stunning. With that said, I think Fatal Frame looks good. I understand what you meant by Switch 2 being in mind, but it can be misinterpreted as you saying Switch 2 held it back. This game wouldn't have necessarily looked better without Switch 2's existence. I don't think the 3 of us disgree on much here. It's just the way we're wording things lol. |
Yeah I think we're saying similar things in different ways.
The main reason it looks the way it does I suspect is just that Tecmo Koei aren't really a "AAA" publisher on the same level as say Activision or Capcom, their games tend to be more AA and generally aren't super high end technologically.
That said, I do think Fatal Frame looks very nice; not cutting edge, but still quite attractive.
