Your 2nd paragraph used the $80 billion MS gaming grossed as an argument for Series being a success. Xbox console and software sales have been declining since the Xbox One, and profitability is unknown. It's a failure in most relevant and known metrics. The Xbox platform may soon disappear (merge with PC and be dwarfed by Steam). Won't matter to Microsoft much now that they're easily the biggest game software company among the "big 3". Tencent is the only platform holder that rivals them in this metric. |
I literally stated it's the ENTIRE gaming division on numerous occasions.
If you somehow surmised that I meant "Xbox Series" has made $80 billion, then you misinterpreted my statements and took them out of their intended context, that fault lays with you. |
Your words:
Microsoft Series even though it's only sold a fraction of the Xbox 360 consoles, is still a success as Microsoft has made a profit on the platform. (Their gaming division since the Xbox Series Launched has raked in over $80 billion.)
You made a connection between the rising revenue (I know you meant the entire gaming division) and Xbox Series when there is none.
The platform is declining, Microsoft gaming is growing. Xbox platform dying and MS gaming dominating can occur at the same time. I disagree on linking Microsoft's growth with Xbox Series' so called success.
And until the acquisitions pay themselves, MS gaming's true profits will remain in the minus. It'll take them forever to achieve this, and most of the money will come through Steam, Playstation, and Nintendo gamers who are NOT part of their "platform". Xbox may as well disappear and MS will remain a gaming giant. There's just no connection between MS gaming growth and Xbox Series's "success".
