PS2

PS4

SNES

Switch

PS1

PS5

3DS

PSP

GBA

N64

PS2 is a tier on its own, a "no complaints" tier

Switch, SNES and PS4 are in "minor complaints" tier

PS1 and PS5 are in "obvious shortcomings, but still lots of fun" tier

PSP, 3DS, GBA and N64 are in "fun, but major issues" tier

I was thinking if I should put PS3 or N64, but after some reflection I decided to favor 64

I think as I kid I really enjoyed N64, while as a teenager PS3 was a bit mid (today I evaluate both differently, but I think historical context matters in this case)

I have positive memories of Sega Megadrive, but I never played it enough to have a strong/solid opinion about it. Would probably rate in "obvious shortcomings but fun" tier

I don't have lots of experience with Xbox 360 either, but I think if I had one I would rate in on the same tier of N64/3DS/GBA/PSP, fun but with caveats. Kinect was fun to play with friends

Minor complaint with the snes?

Yes. Very expensive media cartdiges and excess of games that seemed to be designed with arcades in mind having to be played with SNES controller (which imo is average at best)

I’m a Nintendo gamer, so I’ll just rank those:
1. NSW
2. GCN
3. N64
4. SNES
5. Wii
6. DS
7. Wii U
8. 3DS
9. GameBoy Advanced
10. NES
…NS2 is not being ranked b/c it’s only been out for a three months.

whats cool about our lists is we actually have the same exact systems in our top ten, except you have gba and i went with original gb. cool list though, although im surprised snes is in such a low spot.

The reason SNES isn’t higher is because I haven’t played more games. Mario World, Yoshi’s Island, and Mario RPG sit as some of my favorite games of all time, but those are literally the only three games I’ve played on the system. Plus, how can you top (i) the machine with Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Mario 64, and Zelda MM/OoT & (ii) the machine with Pikmin 1+2, Paper Mario TTYD, WindWaker, SMSunshine, Smash Bros Melee, Monkey Ball 1+2, etc.? These systems are loaded!

I considered placing Wii over SNES (b/c Mario Galaxy, DKCReturns, Wii Sports, MKWii, KirbyRTDL, etc.), but I know SNES is renowned for its library (which I haven’t played). So, it got bumped up. It could *maybe* top N64…though that’d be very difficult.

(The reason Switch is no.1? Zelda BotW+TotK+EoW, Pikmin 4, Mario Odyssey+Bowser’s Fury+Wonder, Mario+Rabbids: KB, Smash Ultimate, KirbyATFL, AC:NH, Metroid Dread, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Mario Party Jamboree (massive revival for the franchise), Mario Tennis Aces (I’m in the minority here, but I adore this game!), massive catalogue of incredible remakes and remasters (MPRemastered, Advanced Wars 1+2 Remake, Mario RPG Remake, TTYD Remake, Link’s Awakening Remake, FDC1+2 Remake), and that’s not even mentioning the incredible convenience that comes from portability with this system alongside the overwhelming 3rd party support.)
