I was playing Versus mode for the 1st time last night. VERY fun. My only complaint is I played for 4 hours and only got to be the Tank 2 times. The "All 4 Dead" achievement is going to be tough.

It is unplayable when it lags and I hate it when it puts me with unranked and rank 1 players up against rank 2 and 3 (although I just sneakily quit at the lobby which doesnt count as a loss in stats), but it doesnt make it garbage in my eyes.

I guess its because I didnt get into Gears 1 at the time, and I dont have a point of reference. I take it that Gears 1 had none of these issues? I wonder why would Gears 2 multiplayer be so much worse than Gears 1 multiplayer in terms of lag and matchmaking.

Yea its a waste of money for sure and Im being ripped off but I have rekindled by Counterstrike days and am sucked in.

Gears 1 had bullet lag. That's about the only real problem it had. They had frag tagging problems and roadie running problems but those were fixed. Gears 2 is bad in so many ways I don't think they'll ever fix it, much less balancing issues with people just running to every power weapon and spamming smoke grenades then just running in to get it. Quite frankly, I'm getting more laggy games in Gears 2 then the first now. It's about a ratio of one every 6 matches or so.

Makes me want to give Gears 1 a whirl. I am indeed quite sick of 4 rushing to the Boomshot in River and getting chainsawed still after two shotgun shots.

@eNamrah, that will be tough to get. Everytime I get the tank its in some wide open area and the survivors all split up making it very hard. I did see someone get it once but they got lucky. Tank spawned as the survivors were entering the alley on act 1 of No Mercy so they were all grouped together in a tight spot. The player hit a car and it goes flying at them, incapacitated 3, the other was easy pray. I don't have such luck and I can bitch all I want about not getting an achievement and still not get it afterward :)

I downloaded the new maps for Gears 2 since I had some extra points left over. I haven't played them yet, will do soon.

Yeah, both times I spawned as the Tank were on the rooftop of the hospital and the survivors were split up. Though I did get to throw a survivor off the rooftop. Good times. One guy I was playing with spawned as the Tank 3 consecutive times. Also, what weapon did you unlock "Jump Shot" with? My weapons of choice in the game are the shotguns but I can't seem to unlock that achievement even though I've had head shots on hunters in the air.

I think it was the sub machine gun. It kind of just happened, I wasn't trying specifically to get that.

Yeah Versus is a blast! I'm through trying expert I think... at this point in the race it just takes too long and yeilds little achievement. I think the rest of my race time would be best suited playing versus. I just hope they patch it to add versus to the other 2 campaigns and eventually give us DLC. Hands down best online game I've played aside from WOW though.

I haven't gotten the hunter headshot achievement either. My friend who was playing got it the first time he played with the M16. I usually use the hunting rifle (I love that thing) and it's been hard. I might give a whirl through the campaign using the machine guns to see if it pops up. It's mainly luck I think.

I love versus but it seems like 90% of the matches are always on No Mercy even though you can play the other campaign =/

I've been playing Tales a lot lately too.  I've had it a while just haven't had the time to put into it.  Now that I got to play it more I'm officially hooked.  It's such a good game.  The only other game I've played in the series has been the one on Gamecube and so far I think it's passed LO (which I really liked) as my fav RPG on the 360.
