For me it's just the Windows implementation. MS finally seems to see SteamOS as a threat. The hardware will be standard fare for handheld PCs. Heck the basic white model is essentially using the Steam Decks SoC. Unless MS is willing to subsidize the costs to get the pricing down to an interesting level, I don't really see much here beyond the more game/portable PC optimized rendition of Windows.
Hilariously, through its ability to play PC titles, Xbox Ally can play Sony's PC ports.
God of War, The Last of Us, Horizon, Spiderman, etc will be on an Xbox device.

Looks like the MS made Xbox portable has been cancelled.
The ROGbox will be the de facto successor.

Not surprised. MS is clearly moving away from dedicated hardware in spite of their public proclamations. The next Xbox "console" will likely be in the same vein as the ROG Xbox Ally X. A desktop PC with the next rendition of this game focused version of Windows with Xbox branding.
Yeah at this point, I'd be surprised if we ever again get an actual dedicated Xbox console.
Everything they've done in the last year suggests moving away from that and towards being a software platform.

I will say, the system itself looks kinda cool, if nothing else I do like Xbox's design language these days
That said, with the Xbox Series S now costing more than a PS5 Digital and the 2TB Series X more than a PS5 Pro, I don't even wanna think about how much these puppies will set you back.
The CURRENT ROG Ally itself is already like $650.

I was in Best Buy picking up my copy of CP2077 for Switch 2. When the guy was ringing me up, I looked behind him and the ROG Ally X was $900. I'd be stunned if the Xbox version is below that price.
