Forums - Nintendo - Why Do I Keep Getting Disconnected in Mario Kart Wii?????

OK I am really fed up and might stop bothering to play this game online cause it gives me nothing but annoyance.  When I try a random race 9 times out of 10 I wait for like 30 seconds watching what is stated as a live race.  Then when it says Getting Ready To Race I then get a message saying You Were Disconnected From Other Racers.  It is the most annoying thing ever.

 I thought it might be better if I play Friends race and went into the Euro Grand Prix with high hopes.  But then I got disconnected after the first race.  To add to my annoyance I crossed the line in third but then the results showed me as fourth.  And Larry Lion didn't help by suddenly appearing in front of me in 2nd place out of nowhere in that Gorge track - must be a short cut I have to explore.

 Anyway back on topic I am really really fed up.  Is it just me that has this repeated problem.  I know Nintendo Wi-Fi is free but that doesn't excuse something being so rubbish.  I'm going to give it a few more days and if I keep having this problem it's over for me trying this game online.  And I hope when Brawl finally gets released in Europe I don't have this annoying problem again.

I don't encounter the same problem. Sometimes it takes too long, tough. At what time do you connect?

My former account was HeSSeH, but I lost it.

How do other online games fare? Is MKWii the one giving you trouble? I'm betting you just don't have a good wireless signal to the Wii.

Yeah it was pretty strange. I was 4th in that race, but the result said 6th.
I think it has to do with your internet connection though.

When you are on the normal vs race against random people, and you get disconnected in the middle of a race, does it take points from you ir give you points?

If the former then it is your internet connection, if the latter I think it is Nintendo's servers.

I haven't tried any games online in a while.  I used to play Mario Strikers online and never had any problem but I;ve changed my broadband provider since then.  Will try another Wii game online and see if it's just Mario Kart.  Since others don't seem to be having the same problem it might be my wireless connection but I haven't had the same problem with my DS even after I changed provider.

Well, don't press 2+1+B (I always do that accidetialy) because that is the auto-disconnect.

Also, restart your router, and have it turned off for 5 minutes.

I've never been disconnected mid-race.  It's always just before the race starts when it says Getting Ready to Race.

@tuoyo

Sounds like you're getting an intermittent signal issue. This originates from your ISP and can cause problems with race authentication that requires a certain ping to allow you in(should be over 1500ms).

So, if it works sometimes, and doesn't work others, it's that. I had the issue with WoW, and contacted my ISP.

It could also be Nintendo servers, which if other people aren't having the same issue, it's probably not, but who knows. We certainly don't have a large enough sample size here on VGChartz to know for sure. I suggest surfing google with your problem in parenthesis and seeing if anyone has similar issues.
