Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is definitely in front of the pack for me (it's possibly Top 10 of all-time material for me). The only games that have a chance at dethroning them would be Metroid Prime 4 and Hollow Knight: SIlksong.
Signature goes here!

The prolbem I have is that since i only steam game now (since im always on the go) the games I play each year and be my goty might not have been released this year. I have beaten many games this year on steam, and so far my GOTY is FF7:Rebirth

Added! Yeah, I love the mechanical diversity of It Takes Two, but found the story a tad intrusive and the characters weirdly unsympathetic. That said, I'm still eager to try Split Fiction. I heard the Switch 2 port is a bit suspect; is that right? |
I played it on PS5, but from what I've seen the Switch 2 port seems okay for what it is, given that it's a 9th gen exclusive running on a handheld device.
They weirdly seem to have left the framerate uncapped though, so a 30fps cap would be nice.

Another one for me:
Mario Kart World (NS2)
A finely-tuned, incredibly polished racing game with tons of content, huge replay value, amazing production design, and an exciting new open world concept
Score: 9/10
Kingdom come deliverance 2 is probably my current front runner from what I've played so far. But I think DK Bananza will likely end up being GOTY, going by what I've seen so far from it.

Another one for me!
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (NS2)
This might be the best Rune Factory yet, thanks to an addictive village management system, deep friendship & romance options, and the finest combat framework in the series.
Score: 8/10

Another from me:
Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army (NS2)
An outstanding remaster that retains the great art direction & setting of the original and enhances graphics, combat, demon fusion options, and accessibility.
Score: 8/10

-Split Fiction (9.5/10)
"Like It Takes Two, Split Fiction will go on to be one of the Rosetta Stones against which any other specialized co-op game will be judged. How it measures up to Hazelight's previous is an exciting quandary all of its own. On the one hand, I may lean towards Two's more Toy Story-esque logic and the creativity derived from that; on the other, I don't anticipate anyone topping this spectacular finale for years to come (though I'll be ecstatic to be proven wrong). Even after its few storytelling missteps, or the rare case of platformer imprecision, all that mattered when the credits rolled was the absolute joy encased within this experience."
-Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (8.5/10)
"Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector's true success stems from expanding upon its mechanical and narrative foundation without overriding its potent emotional connection. Granted, emphasizing greater "complexity" for a tabletop role-playing/visual novel hybrid might seem suspicious at first blush, but that would hastily disregard how those interlocking systems create such palpably tense decisions. Of course, another part of that tension is the compelling narrative that's woven within every interaction. Even with nary a voiced line of dialogue nor a fully-animated cutscene, Jump Over the Age manages to ensorcell far easier than most big-budget studios today. With accomplishments like that? It's easy to put up with some crossed wires and inconsistencies."
-Pipistrello & the Cursed Yoyo (8/10)
Haven't reviewed it yet, but think of it like a long-lost Metroidvania for the Gameboy Advance. Just a great example of level design & charm.
November 2025 Articles:
Donkey Kong Bananza!
Xenoblade Chronicles X is up there too, but since its a rerelease, DK takes it.

So far... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best thing by far I've played all year. So that's my vote.
