Forums - Nintendo Discussion - When are you planning to get a Switch 2?

I'm planning to get a Switch 2...

At launch 25 32.47%

In first 3 months 4 5.19%

At some point in 2025 8 10.39%

At some point in 2026 5 6.49%

No date in mind, but cons... 3 3.90%

No date in mind, but cons... 14 18.18%

No plans to get a Switch 2 13 16.88%

Undecided 5 6.49%

Total:77

Whenever it has an exclusive I can't pass up. MKW is tempting but it's not like I play a lot of MK8 as it is. Duskbloods may do it but I'm not sold on it yet (or sure it's not a timed exclusive). Maybe the next Fire Emblem, mainline Zelda, or a cool new IP.

I read physixal games will just be a code in a box, soo never.

It will be a continuation of the Switch status-quo.

Some games will be a code in the box, most will be physical.

I'll try to get it close to launch. My only issue is game prices, mario kart will be fine since I'm planning to get the bundle but other games are going to be very hard to justify if they are similarly priced.

Order is in.

Cyberpunk was available. The same price as Mario Kart World which didn't bother me too much, but after thinking it over spending that much is frivolous for a game I already own on Xbox and PC. Mostly because it'll be one of the main games I'll use to push my new PC soon.

Mario Kart World, Breath of the Wild and Bravely Default are enough for launch. If I see Yakuza 0 I might still sneak that in.

I tend to buy Nintendo consoles at launch but game prices are a problem. In Sweden MK World costs 90 dollars! I'll wait and see

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Well I wasn't planning on getting one for a while after seeing the price of games, but my friend ordered a standard one because he couldn't get an MK bundle, then he found an MK bundle in stock and is giving me the standard lol. So guess I'm getting it at launch.

Mario Kart, 4k and 120hz support. Most out of left field FromSoft exclusive. Launch is a no-brainer for me.

Pro controller support is a huge benefit no one is talking about. The new Pro controller is more like a half-step towards the Elite/Edge controllers; they basically just took the current Pro controller, added a C button and some paddles. So anyone who exclusively uses Pro controllers like me and really needs two so one can always be charging doesn't need to buy any. The current Pro controller is still the standard controller moving forward.

I do have to swallow the extra cost of buying Mario Kart World separately for a physical copy. I'll also be ordering Breath of the Wild and Bravely Default for now. Might also add Cyberpunk 2077 and Yakuza 0 once I see them available.

Really? Thats awesome. I have like four of them.

When the revision hits or when a for me must play game releases.

But I'm leaning on never. My PS5 works well for gaming on TV and my phone for gaming on the go. My backlog is larger than what I can possible finish playing in my lifetime. As the time goes by I find less and less reason to own another dedicated gaming device.

But since it is what usually happens, I will probably buy the thing just for the heck of it a few months in. I am a weak person

Was considering on getting one during the holiday of this year but after the direct it made me think about saving it until 2026 for Duskbloods as Mario kart and the new DK don't move the needle for me. After hearing about the pricing and what they are doing with physical media I'm now tentative on ever buying one and will take the wait and see approach. No way in hell am I going to buy third party games on that system when I can play better/cheaper versions of them on PS5/PC. I might have played some of the upgraded games I never got around to from the original Switch but the pricing of them are ridiculous.

The Direct was great but not good enough for me to drop that cash when there are many other games to play on different platforms.
