Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart World releases exclusively on Switch 2 launch day; June 5th

I didn't get one thing: Is the option of having 3 laps in the same circuit, as the way Mario Kart has always been like, only present in the VS. Mode when playing in local multiplayer?

MKW looks fun.  For me it IS worth $80, but it IS NOT worth $500+.  It's not good enough to sell me on a system by itself.  I like to say, "you can charge whatever you want for a game, but that game better be damn good!"  Breath of the Wild was that good.  It could sell a system all by itself.  MKW cannot sell me a system by itself.  Few games can.

I'll probably pick up a NSW 2 in a few years once it has enough good games that I want to play and maybe an attractive Black Friday deal or something like that.

lol. You are the very first person that I see saying that the price of MKW is fine but not the bundle with the game on it

You can do it in private online as well, no idea how the public online matchmaking works they didn't really go into that.

GP mode is always drive between circuits afaik.

Looks great, but I'm not really sure what the point of this direct was. Most of the information shown was already known and the new info could have just been shown in the switch 2 direct.

Maybe the intention is to keep people engaged until the game and console come out. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo held another presentation next month near the release date.

*watches the Direct* That was it?!!

Yeah, thats what it looks like. After all, this is the game that will push the system for the release, so it wouldnt be wise to show everything today and risk to drop the momentum later in a few weeks

We reap what we sow

And how come character costumes are separate character slots instead of just selectable with your character?

This is not what I mean.  What I mean is that MKW is not enough to get me to buy a Switch2 this year.  I'll likely buy one in a few years once the system gets enough games that I like.

It has two big games for me, and an upgrade to a Switch 1 game that I want.

It looks amazing, especially at $50 for early adopters in the bundle. Once the bundle goes away, it is not an $80 game in my opinion. Will players get more than $80 in value, since they are going to play it for thousands of hours, yes. But the amount of work that went into making the game does not equal $80 compared to other games.
