I say Tomb Raider. I enjoy the supersmooth animations of Lara Croft until this very day. It was pure magic back then.

Honorable mention to Ocarina of Time. The environments blew me away as a kid. But Link didn't move as smooth as Lara did. =P

While much more rudimentary than other games, I always thought 1080 Snowboarding looked fantastic! Especially the animations of the way the snowboarders would move while in the air or even fall.

Late generation N64 games like Perfect Dark and Conker. And Animal Crossing looks so good that people really believe the series started on the GameCube I guess. And games like Star Fox, Rogue Squadron and F-Zero are very impressive by how good they look and perform.

They ran like shit but Turok 2 and Perfect Dark were impressive on N64 and Turok 3 had lip sync which was not even that common in many early 6th gen consoles. Why was it mindblowing in Shenmue with Dreamcast, let alone N64.

Vagrant Story and Omega Boost were insanely impressive for PS1 and 2 games. I think they should have waited for PS2. They were a bit too ambitious for PS1.

I don't really count FFIX, while yes, it's the best-looking FF on PS1. Using pre-rendered backgrounds helps a lot where Vagrant Story was all 3D.

Radiant Silvergun was magic back then and was made with Saturn fully in mind so it would be nearly impossible to port to PS1.

Burning Rangers is up there for me too, the dynamic coloured lighting and extensive use of transparencies was crazy impressive.

I'd actually never seen Omega Boost before, and it does indeed look phenomenal, great use of particles in particular, thanks for the heads up.
