Yeah, I know. Maybe the question should be worded a bit differently, though.

Also, there's a nostalgia factor to consider. Would your favorite PS1 games really hold up today if you had to play them?

Let me answer that.

Played ff7 again this year(still the greatest game of all time.

Plays diablo1 a lot., still a incredible game.

Played breath of fire 3 last year again, still one of the greatest jrpgs ever.

Played and buiten suikoden last week, incredible game.

Not only do a lot of ps1 games hold up, they are a LOT better then most crap nowadays.

even thou it's just my opinion ofcourse.

Still play kings field a lot(2)

Really liked wild arms last year.

You have a preference for RPG's, so the limitations don't bother you as much.

An argument can be made for PS1 games holding up better than the more advanced N64. PS1 was RPG heaven، standard RPG's weren't affected by the lack of a 2nd analog stick like platformers were, and less affected by the primitive 3D graphics. Those psudeo 3D RPG's still look cool and unique today, as do games with pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed cameras like Resident Evil. The hardware limitations often forced developers to be creative.

I think you are missing my point, they are a lot of fun to play, graphics dont bother me a bit

Thata why most big modern games suck in my opinion, graphics gets boring real fast.

Megaman x4 is an absolute classic
I love Megaman 8
CSotN is amazing
MSG1 still holds up great to me.
FF7, 8 and 9 are amazing.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 is super fun
Countless arcade ports of SNK games…

Dude, the PS1 is actually an easy choice for me. I adore the system. I honestly cannot see myself going back to play PS2 games the same way I do revisit these PS1 games.

That's not how the question was meant. A gaming system is a means to play games, so for many, perhaps even for most, the best system is the one with the best games.

The fact is each console and its subsequent library of games are a product of their time, and if you ask most gamers the enjoyment experienced from playing those games at that time is what they are basing their voting on rather than how it looks and plays today.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

I hate to say it but it has to be the ps2. It has one my favorite games (ace combat 5) and has sold a few units
