To put things into perspective, Mario Wonder sales would make it the biggest PS5 game in terms of copies sold.

To put things into perspective, Nintendo Switch has 149M units sold while PS5 has 71M.

Sure, but it seems that PS5 is trending towards an Xbox style reality, with low software sales and more about live service, given the fact that FF XVI is one of the bigger sellers on PS5 with 3 million copies sold, which would be almost nothing on Switch. Switch still has that old school console business model which is all about just selling games. PS and Xbox is more about live service and subscription revenue.

Mario Party Jamboree is the fastest selling Mario Party game ever:

@curl-6 Definitely not surprised by that, given the install base and the fact that Jamboree is a great game and easily my favorite of the Switch Mario Parties. Ultimately don't see it passing Super Mario Party or even Mario Party Superstars lifetime sales, but it should be another 10m seller in the tank for Switch. Hopefully we're even able to find that out officially (I say hopefully because it doesn't look like CESA will report year end sales anymore).

I actually think it has a shot at outselling Superstars, as it should have good legs and continue to sell for years to come.

Superstars was at 12.89m as of last March, Jamboree's sold around half that already.

@curl-6 It's possible, but it depends on legs. I personally think it will just miss it. Maybe sell 11-12m lifetime, but by then Superstars should be around 14m, maybe even 15m.

Jamboree strikes me as the kind of game that will sell well for a while as the go-to party game for Nintendo players, as it's probably 3 years til the next Mario Party and with Switch 2 being BC the transition to next gen won't kill it. I can't see it selling less than Superstars given it's strong start and that it seems to more well liked. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

The quote doesn't rule out MP4 being crossgen. Whether it is or not remains to be seen. Maybe, maybe not.

Nintendo is clearly choosing to keep Switch 2 software plans under wraps until the April 2nd Direct.

Right, the part of the quote, "launching exclusive games for Nintendo Switch 2 is essential for its success" doesn't speak to whether Switch 1 will still get exclusives. You could take it equally as him hinting that Switch 2 needs exclusives in addition to cross-gen titles.

That does not mean its not getting (at least) small eyclusives anymore. Everything that happened and was said so far point to a post 1st party support of at least 1 year, if not 2.

I don’t buy the cross-gen argument for Metroid and I think we’re again reading too much into Furukawa’s statement.

-Switch 1 will still receive some games.
-Switch 2 success is dependent on having exclusive.

I simply read it as both consoles will be supported during the transition, but each one will have their own separate lineup. That’s it, simple as that.

I skipped it for a silly reason...

Long ago, I heard of Nazi events translated as being "jamborees" and so I have held that association ever since :D

I've never heard of nazi jamborees, but they sound pretty lame.
