Hope you aren't settled on becoming one of those woke preachy teachers....

lol I was expecting to receive comments like "Good luck dealing with nowadays kids" or "Aren't you worried about mass shooting?", not this one. I guess it shows how people have different concerns when it comes to the education topic

That's what I meant @LegitHyperbole

You could've just done the good luck with your career path shpeel but you instead made it into a tangent of your beliefs

Didnt even see this thread until now lol

My Christmas was awesome, mainly because it was our daughter's first Christmas.

1. Spent time with my daughter and played with her for a few hours
2. Made Christmas meal with my wife, it was our first time having Holiday Ham (ate it with some sweet baby ray bbq sauce....damn good)
3. Watched The Grinch (2018) with my wife
4. Spent time with my mom watching some wrestling (WWE) clips
5. Played Grand Theft Auto V (PS5)
6. Had some red velvet cake

Woke up, drove to my parents’ place to see my nieces & nephews react to Santa, I got myself an iPad Pro (2024) for all my math studies, I came out to my parents and grandparents about my faith in Jesus (via inviting them to my baptism this Sunday…im filled with so much joy at this thought). By this time, it was 12pm. The rest of the day, I studied my math, and then drove back to school around 8pm.

Pretty solid Christmas Day tbh. Didn’t disrupt my work flow all too much, plus I had a big reveal that I had been needing to get off my shoulders from over the past year.

Studying to do an exam and be hired as a public school teacher

The fact you don't see anything wrong with this response is a big problem and the unnecessary bs teachers have to deal with.

I don't care what they deal with, they have a responsibility to take the parents values into their own hands wether they like those values or not and they don't. This is a big problem.

Whose parent's values is that then? There are 30 kids in a classroom all from different backgrounds and ethnicities.

My mother once got in a 'fight' with my history teacher as he was blatantly promoting the CDA (Christian Democratic Appeal) in class. She was a school advisor, fervent feminist and member of the PVDA, so went there to demand neutrality in class.

That's just one example, every teacher has a bias. Be it liberal, conservative, woke (whatever that means), racist, pro/anti religion. It's a good thing kids get many different teachers in high school to make up their own minds. Nothing wrong with getting different perspectives (although racism and genderism has no place anywhere)

As long as the school curriculum is based on equality and freedom of expression, a bit of bias in teachers is fine. That's what kids will be dealing with the rest of their lives anyway.

The best teachers are those that teach kids to think for themselves. Like our religion teacher taught us about the similiarities and differences between several world religions without pushing Catholicism as the ideal (I went to a Catholic school). Our social studies teacher was teaching us about the imminent collapse of the Soviet Union while all eyes were on Desert Storm, the first Iraq war. He also taught us about bias in Newspapers, having us source different newspapers collecting different views on the same events to spot the differences in reporting.

School is not just about teaching 'facts', it's about learning how to interpret them. Schools today should be teaching about echo chambers, bias in social media next to / versus mainstream media and how to find and cross check information on the internet. Teach kids how to spot an 'agenda' and motives behind certain views.

I'm taking abou WAY more basic stuff. Gender roles. Ethics. Pride of the nation in which they teach and what not.

We're still enjoying Path of Exile 2, it's going much better now after we took half an hour to read the fine print lol.

We couldn't figure out why we had to level so much to survive, something was wrong. At some point, not being able to tackle any bosses in Act 2, we had to stop and study all the little letters, conditions etc, normally unable to read from the couch.

It turns out many 'upgrades' have downgrades attached to them. What seemed like a good idea, actually lowered my wife's dps to 152 out of a possible 440 at the time. My main dps was 200 instead of a possible 250 with the same items. So we were basically playing in 'gimp mode' finally beating Act 1 at lvl 20 with only half of our dps, actually less since the best abilities of my wife's warrior class weren't working with our crap setup.

After fixing that, we were cutting through the zones like butter, the warrior blowing up whole groups at a time. Bosses melting away before they can get nasty.

We finally figured out how to use uncut support gems as well. Turns out it's all sub menus, press R1 for all the different pages. We were just looking at the first page for melee which was maxed out 15 hours ago, no idea why we were still only getting lvl 1 gems. Thus we finally upgraded the other abilities (which is a nasty puzzle with lots of pos/neg conditions that often don't make much sense, the nerdy part of the game)

But we can't figure out the ascension trials. First it kept disconnecting us on entry, then we ran out of honor and the game stopped responding to any button inputs. Had to shut the game down and restart. Then we couldn't restart the trial. Then when it worked again the first area exit would remain locked. Then after quitting to reset we couldn't start anymore, no gem. Checking online many people report game breaking bugs with the trials :/

So leaving those aside for now, but would probably come in handy in Act 3 :/

Something I learned is that my body can't handle gorging on food as well as it used to so going forward I'll wanna be more careful with how much I binge eat around Christmas time.
