Forums - Movies & TV - Best/Favourite film of 2024

Having had the chance to catch up on a bunch more films from last year, two others stood out as contenders for me.

The first, is Robert Egger's Nosferatu. The whole thing is so beautifully orchestrated, from the sublime lighting and cinematography to the acting to the intense creepiness. It's infused with an intoxicating combination of raw horror and latent sensuality, fitting for its 19th century setting, a time of both repression and depravity. It's not for every taste, but it achieves its singular vision masterfully.

The other was Alex Garland's Civil War. I'm a big fan of Garland's work, and he weaves a brilliant tale here that captures the experience of a war torn country with frightening believability.

I still feel Dune Part Two is the finest film of last year, but these two come very close.
