If a developer or consultant said he doesn't like white people and decides to not put them a game, why would that be woke.  Would that not be racist? Now what if that same developer says, he doesn't like black or Asian people so he isn't going to put them in his game, would you still support that game?

Can you tell me what developer stated they do not like White people or white people in general since you stated this happen often but unless there is only one developer making a game, I find that hard to believe.

Do you need for the character to be a straight white male dude?  If a game doesn't have one of those requirements are you immediately believing that a team of probably hundreds are all woman, non white or gay deciding that this main character definitely needs to be something other than straight white dude.

It just seems diversity is really getting to you.  You do know that the reason you are seeing more diverse characters is because dev teams are made up of more diverse people.  Creative people probably getting tired of just doing dude bro 1000 so they do something different.  Is it threatening the status quo, you bet but then again, games are reaching a much bigger market today than they use to.

Thats a pretty common thing among woke people. They dehuminize white people by stating you cant be racist against them because they are not an opressed people and are "In power". Whatever that means... If you dont know this about some of the woke crowd, then I dont know what to tell you.

Matt Hansen is the latest to lash out. Calling the industry full of crusty white people.

Then you have shit like this:

I dont need a straight white male in a game, no. I have no preferences when it comes to characters in a game. I can play as any human, any alien or robot, any animal, any inanimate object etc. I just dont want the developer to talk down to me because of my skin color.

So let me get this straight, you found a video with someone complaining about white people and that make them woke.  I could easily find a number of videos complaining about black, Asians, Indian, Hispanic, you name it, would that make them woke as well.  The funny part is you feel victimize about someone hating white people as if hate isn't out there for every race.  Welcome to what other races have been dealing with for centuries, happy to have you on board so you can feel what everyone feels every day, especially in the US.

Like I said, do you believe only one developer makes a game because if you found one that hates you because you are white, I am sure you could easily find one that hates other races because they are black, Hispanic, Indian, Asian you name it. Its almost like you totally ignore all the hate out there but only focused on people hating white people.  Then again, I am sure you probably ignored those other groups since it never affected you.

Im open to learn. Show me just ONE developer talking negatively about any minority and I will of course take that into account and not support their game.

While I believe this is a good definition, the problem is then we need to define what is unreasonable or extreme, which will vary a LOT from person to person.

We cannot say that for certain when it comes to Intergalactic at this point, but what would you wager? The voice actress herself is a woke extremist, which is hardly a coincidence.

And there is a good chance she was hired by Naughty Dog exactly because of this. After TLOU2 I believe there is a good chance they will double down on the progressive themes on their next game, druckman for example even said something in the lines of "representation is more important than gameplay". it seems TLOU2 was a success so there would be no reason to go back.

Because of what, because Dante9 said she is a woke extremist and so you assume by his definition that is why ND hired her.  Lol, you cannot write the plots in this thread any better.  So if TLOU2 was a success, what made it a success.  Was it the writing, the characters, the story, the gameplay or all of those elements.  So by your definition, its woke but is that because you dislike the direction or the themes.

Lol, good way to divert from what I stated.  I care little to none about what game you support or do not support.  You ranted about one video you found of one developer and talked about being a victim.  I can go to just about any forum and find you a ton of people hatting every minority you can think of.  What jobs do those people hold or do you believe those people do not exist in the game industry.  You make it seem like you can find dozens, hundreds of videos of someone hating on white people as a dev.  Lets not act as if the majority of game devs are not white male men, at least western devs.

I know theres way too many racist white people in the world. I dont give them any of my money either.

Woke is a strange label that is poorly defined and very subjective. However, it is not without meaning, and it does to an extent point to something that is wrong with modern society. It is of course overused by some on the right, but also too easily dismissed by people on the left.

The consensus understanding of the word seems to be that it relates to minority identity topics, typically gender and sexuality related, but often also race and nationality. Anybody who uses it for other issues, such as climate science, economics etc. should be dismissed immediatly, these are either bad faith actors or low-IQ individuals.

When applied to the relevant topics, the word should still be used very carefully. When a product is "woke" it implies that whatever inclusivity it showcases, either has poor motivation or terrible execution. There is not a video game that immediatly comes to mind, though I am sure there are several examples, but from Hollywood you needn't look any further than Disney. One of the most obvious examples is the new Snow White movie:

Here are some plot points from the original:

1. Snow White has her name, because she is white as snow.

2. Lost in the woods, she ends up in a cottage inhabited by seven dwarfs, depicted as fantastical creatures.

3. Getting poisoned by an evil witch, she is saved by a prince who steals a kiss when she is sleeping and takes her to his castle.

In the upcoming film, Snow White keeps her name, but is no longer white. Disney changed the seven dwarfs to a diverse group of mainly full grown characters, after receiving backlash, then changed it back after receiving another wave of backlash. Who knows how they will handle the third point?

It seems to me they are a little more focused on pleasing or at the very least not offending a far-left political segment, than they are focused on following a creative vision. Couple that with a generally creatively bankrupt track-record when it comes to live-action remakes, and yes you indeed end up with a WOKE film.

Such a good post.
This is very well put.

A woke game is whatever the anti woke crowd call woke. Doesn't matter if it makes sense or not. Anti woke say they want games and character that make sense, but call a game like South of Midnight woke because it stars a black women even though the setting makes perfect sense for this character. If any of you watched the video I posted, the guy makes a great point how the movie Aliens gets a pass from being woke because it a damn good movie from the 80s, but if it would have released this year, it would be considered woke. Same with Terminator 2 and plenty of other great older movies. It's the same way with older games get a pass because they are great, but would easily be called woke if released today.

They hired sweet baby inc... and the first thing they did was to race swap the main character.
She was originally a white lady.  Why? because SBI want more representation of black women in games.
Now it looks like they did this early in development, so it'll likely feel natural, and not forced.

But the team that made the game, had a vision that had a main character that was different than she ended up being, because of sweet baby inc.
Its a pattern.... this isn't the first game, where Sweet baby inc, gets onboard, and they change the main character (by race swapping them).
(flintlock main lead was a white dude, until SBI came in)

How do we know this stuff? insiders at the companies that aren't onboard with the changes made, but dare not speak up, again it.
You get labeled a lot of names, by the woke crowd if you say you don't agree with their ideologies or reasoning.
(these inclusive groups, sure like to kick out, everyone who doesn't bow down to them)

Its to the point were people inside these companies don't dare talk about it there, and instead talk to these "grifters" online, to get their messaging out.
(this was a issue at ubisoft, with veilguard.... insiders talk about a corporate culture, where there is no debate, you get black listed if you speak out)

So while I can understand, you dislike that there are people making videos about the matter, and maybe even profiting off of views.
Where else will this debate take place? if society and companies black list anyone who speaks out against it?

"Aliens gets a pass from being woke because it a damn good movie from the 80s, but if it would have released this year, it would be considered woke. Same with Terminator 2 and plenty of other great older movies. It's the same way with older games get a pass because they are great, but would easily be called woke if released today."

That is just straight up a lie.

Old games and movies, used to have characters written and made, for them, where they logically fit in.
Now, a consultant company comes in, and just force race and gender swaps characters.
No one hates badass female characters. No one, there is a long history of movies with badass female leads.
These were never woke, or will be, because of a female character.

Take Lara Croft.
She used to be Book Smart, Athletic, good with her aim (guns, to make up for your lack of strength vs guys, a gun is the ultimate equalizer).
She was a female Indiana Jones.. she didn't need a whip... she was graceful and acrobatic instead.  She was just a strong woman.
She had alot of feminine traits.

New Lara Croft.
Shes no book smart anymore, she doesn't raid tombs (that's offensive to the people these belonged too, now) (despite the IP's name).
Shes not acrobatic anymore, shes a body builder, that beats up guys with her fists. Shes lesbian (in the tv series), and spends half the show crying about it.  Shes a weak woman (mentally)... who isn't very feminine.

Why did they change her that much?
Why does this happen so often? women seemingly need to be muscle bound freaks, with strong jawlines.
What happened to appreciating the feminine?  Like is it wrong to be a normal woman?
In DA Veilguard, the breast slider doesn't go past a A-cup size.  In real life, women come in all shapes and sizes.
They wont allow you to make a natural looking woman there. However they will allow you to add top surgery scars ?

Why does it take the anti woke side to point out these issues?
You guys don't think there is anything wrong with this?

Did you watch the show or only videos complaining about it?  I found her very acrobatic in the show and there really no scenes I remember where she uses brute strength to defeat a Man.  There a boxing match she wins against another female but can't think of a time against a man in the show that she relies on strength instead of other skills.  Personally I think she look feminine in the animation but guess that a matter of preference.  I always liked fit woman which is what I would describe her as but there no universe I would consider Lara Croft body type in the animation a bodybuilder.  Female bodybuilders way more muscular than what laura craft look like in the show.  As for the crying none of it has to do with her sexuality.  Her being a lesbian more hinted at then being direct.

I do find it amusing that the people that been viewing lesbian fan art of Lara Croft for the last decade is probably the same people complaining she might be a lesbian in the show.  By the way Toby the original creator of Tomb Raider is the one that press netflix to make the change so you can't be blaming some consultant firm.  FInally there a few scenes in the show where she figure out stuff with her brain by her vast knowledge of things so I don't think they really changed the fact she book smart and know a lot.

Finally you telling me she dont look acrobatic and skilled with a gun in this scene?  Personally I think she does.

I've only seen videos of people complaining about.
I haven't watched the show myself.

Yes, that scene does make her look like, what I think of Lara Croft.
