The fact that the only thing this trailer has to make people excited about the game is the studio's self inserted resume is frankly quite pathetic and sad...

That was one of the least interesting things about the trailer to me.

Good for you ^^

It's a lot more pathetic and sad that the only thing this trailer has to do to make people upset is having the main character be a woman shaving her head.

Naughty Dog working on a new IP is pretty exciting, even if the trailer doesn't do anything particularly exciting. Especially if it's in a genre that people like.

Until they mention Naughty Dog I thinked that game was a generic title made by EA or Ubisoft... so to be fair, I dont like it.

yeah, it was pretty pathetic when everybody got all riled up by the E3 teaser for Metroid Prime 4 back in 2017. There wasn't any gameplay! Only a placeholder logo!! And when Nintendo teased Emio with that Smiling Man video back in June? We knew nothing about the game!! How pathetic! And don't even get me started on Final Fantasy VII Remake's teaser back at E3 2016 lol.

Can you please point to me where did I ever say that any of those examples are a masterclass on how to announce a new video game? I'll wait.

do you think it is “sad and pathetic” when ppl get excited over teaser trailers? B/c that’s pretty much what you’re saying here. I don’t know what point you’re trying to make by asking me to show where you explicitly called these game reveals “masterclasses”. My intent was to provide examples of game reveals which generally are considered to be among the greatest in recent memory. Same could be said about it Smash Bros Ultimate back in March 2018: No gameplay, only a glimpse, yet so impactful.

From the trailer we saw amazing graphics, a somber atmosphere and sound, excellent art direction and design.

We were left with a mistery of 600 years about that planet, probably getting a banger soundtrack and get to wonder how can Naughty Dog do when it comes to sword fighting gameplay.

There is a lot to make me excited, and sure being developed by a studio that has nearly a 100% ratio of great games since they came to Playstation is one of them too.

I've seen similar caliber graphics in many other titles this generation. More of that does not exactly make me drop my jaw in excitement. Atmosphere and art are "realistic space cinematics 101" to me, but I guess to each their own. Sound is... ok, I guess? What qualifies as "excellent sound" in a trailer to you? Are you talking about the music? Because if so, I guess the retro music is cool. Not that it makes me excited about the game...

Hmm... I don't know. That "mystery" is completely decontextualized and has no meaning to me at all.

I'm sorry for not being intrigued about finding out how good a triple A studio that has been doing action games for 30 years can be at making a sword combat system. I don't know, maybe if they actually had SHOWN how it plays I would have something to be excited about.

But the truth is, they haven't shown a game. They have shown a random cinematic of their game, with zero gameplay and little to no plot. It's in space, it has a girl as a protagonist, there is a mysterious planet and some alien she's about to cut with a laser sword. That's it.

I mean its fine to not be moved by the trailer ( I wasn't), it's a teaser and just the same way that sequels can generate excitement of just a title Naughty Dog are using their name here. It's not "pathetic" imo but just a missed opportunity to really wow

People get excited by their favourite studios announcing new games all the time, they also get excited by CG trailers that tell us nothing, some even get excited by only a title card, Lmao. It doesn't really bother me, the industry is negative enough as it is, let people be excited by things, Naughty Dog is a studio with millions of adoring fans so of course when they announce something new, it's going to generate excitement based on their name alone, if From Software released a 5 second teaser for their next game tomorrow you'd have thousands of people trying to decipher everything about it and jumping for joy at a new From Software title being announced, Lol. Calling it pathetic and sad is harsh, Imo.

Just a clarification: I never called the people being excited by the trailer any of those things. People can be excited by whathever they want. My words were adressing the trailer itself and the intentions behind the people making it. The sad and pathetic thing is that they have put together a 4 + minutes trailer of a new IP with no gameplay or actual story in it, but got out of their way to list the entire Naughty Dog resume, knowing very well that it's the only redeeming quality about the video.

Or at least that's how I see it. Obviously, people can be excited by the graphics, by the protagonist or by the glorified compact disk player. I don't really care.

yeah, and that’s pretty sad & pathetic. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it is extremely sad and pathetic if you’re excited abt a game which you havent even played before. Like how do you know you’ll like the game?? Lol. Sonic Forces had some promising gameplay trailers, and we all know how that ended. /s

Agreed on the first paragraph. It's very sad to find so many people complain about the main character not being suffocated by their own boobs or having the face of Scarlett Johanson.

But Naughty Dog working on a new IP was already a known fact. Also, just by watching the trailer, you can't know for sure which genre the game will be. Only it's setting.

Again: I didn't say that people feeling excitement about X or Y is sad or pathetic. Please, it's the second time in the same thread that you put words in my mouth that are not mine.
