President Yoon: "Accept National Assembly's Request... Will Lift Martial Law"

Yoon "Requests immediate cessation of reckless acts of repeated impeachment, legislative manipulation, and paralysis of national functions"

[속보] 尹 "거듭되는 탄핵·입법농단·국가 기능 마비 무도한 행위 즉각 중지 요청"

Lol...What a fucking clown.

Well that's over now, onto his impeachment.

High-level clownery. Truly a Castillo 2.0.

I suppose that's the upside of a conscripted military, being closer to the will of the people. It was clear most of them weren't anywhere close to being keen on following orders on this.

I'm halfway through man from nowhere. Good movie from south korea.

The martial law has officially been lifted.

This is so weird.

The people stood up to their leader rather than rolled over or made excuses.

Democracy won.

Democracy won't truly win until Yoon is dealt with, hopefully with extreme force. Otherwise, this problem will fester.

The main opposition Democratic Party and five other minor opposition parties, including the Rebuilding Korea Party and Reform Party, submitted the motion to the bills office at the National Assembly at 2:43 p.m.

The impeachment motion was signed by 190 opposition lawmakers and one independent lawmaker, with no support from any ruling party lawmakers.

The impeachment motion requires a two-thirds majority to pass the parliament. Of the 300-member National Assembly, the opposition will need eight votes from the ruling People Power Party to pass the bill.

So unless eight PPP members find a conscience and a set of balls, Yoon is going to get off scot-free.

That's not a victory for democracy.

We'll have to wait for the vote, the leader of the PPP came out strongly against the martial law, voted to lift it and shook the hand of the Democratic Party leader afterwards, it seems like the military were almost entirely against it and the public were furious, so whoever doesn't vote to impeach him will be at risk next election, especially since PPP only recently suffered a huge defeat on the back of the hugely unpopular Yoon.

But maybe they want to commit career suicide.
