With how much money Microsoft has invested in in their gaming division, they want to bring in as much money as possible. There's a reason why the overarching division is calling Microsoft Gaming. Xbox only being a division within that hierarchy.

Indiana Jones didn't surprise me once we saw how much Disney's licensing fees are. It's so insane it had Sony bundling Spider-Man 2 for free when the game launched with consoles to help ensure the game reached a certain number of sales. But also, Satya Nadella has made it clear that he hates exclusives, and other companies such as Sega and Square Enix are echoing that same sentiment of focusing on multiplatform releases going forward.

So with how much money has been invested, MS is trying to minimize the risk of losing money. And it seems to be working. It's pretty clear that going forward, all first party releases will be timed exclusives.

Will we see PS games on Xbox? Will we see Nintendo games on Steam?

We already do with the former with MLB The Show, Destiny 2, the upcoming Marathon, and now with Death Stranding. Sony even releasing a couple of games on a Nintendo platform. As far as major first party IPs? If we do, it wouldn't be anytime soon. Sony is still in the middle of tearing down their walled garden for PC. Although I can see Sony warming up to the idea of live service games going to Xbox to avoid too big of a loss on another Concord.

Nintendo is really the lone exception to the rule. The only way we would see Nintendo games on another platform is if Nintendo drops down to the levels of another Wii U since they wouldn't have a 3DS to help keep them afloat. Unlike Xbox and PlayStation, Nintendo doesn't have a multi-billion dollar corporation backing them.

My expectations is they will, I reckon the Switch 2 is gonna be a dud and confuse people like with the wii to wii u.

Probably not right away, but if Sony wants to stay in business it's will have to put it's games on more than just it's own console eventually with the high costs and long developing time.  Losing all that money on Concord isn't helping them either.

Why, they won't be able to get them on Switch and Xbox has a much smaller user base and a much, much smaller active user base.

I suppose Sony allowed the Horizon IP to be made on a game for Switch, perhaps that's where ir starts and we see move later on on the Switch successor.

There has to be a relative ceiling for Indiana Jones if it stays on Series X/S and Windows. I see no problem releasing it on PS5 in 2025.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Whether it's the right thing to do or not, they have to.

They spent a crap ton acquiring developers that investors demand to see a larger return asap. The way Xbox was before isn't enough, nor is the (small?) profit GP is providing.
