I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to launch MK8 Ultimate with Switch 2 and it of course has all the content.

Then in Holiday 2025 or the first half of 2026 release a new Mario Kart game. But even then, they might be able to put it off until 2027 if there's a native Switch 2 version of Mario Kart 8.

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

Interestingly, Mario Odyssey is slightly gaining on BOTW bit by bit, albeit so gradually that it's uncertain if it will actually catch up.

TOTK also broke away from Super Mario Party a little, after being basically tied with it as of the last report. It also sold the same as BOTW this quarter.

And even if the switch manages to do that: its like comparing the highest selling games of all time. You got Minecraft, GTA V and Tetris. The revenue makes the difference. Is it a bigger success to sell 200 million + GTA V that were sold for 50-70€ ($) for many years or to sell 300 million + copies of a 10€ low budget title or 100 million + Tetris games that were shipped with the gameboy in a bundle?

The PS2 was always a very high price highend console, The switch was always that cheap family toy it is today. Maybe the switch 2 only costs 150€ and sells 200 million and the PS6 600€ and sells only 80 million, Who knows, but its not a fair comparison. Oh, and how about the markets? The PS2 was sold in less countries than the switch and when did the switch have its best year? During Corona... What an advantage. As you can see: even if the switch surpasses the PS2, which is unlikely, the PS2 would still be deserve the title "king of consoles" for me.

First of all, who's alt are you? Secondly, is this some kind of joke/troll post? For the switch to not sell 150m plus, it would have to almost literally sell 0 consoles after this holiday season. Also, seriously what are you on? The ps2 was a very high price console?? it's my understanding, particularly in its latter years, the Ps2 was sold very cheaply, yet the "cheap toy", as you call the switch has not received a single price cut and is selling at a way higher price point than the Ps2 was in its latter years. Is this some parody i'm not getting or are you really that misinformed and devoid of logic?

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!
