From the Verge. Pretty much what I said in the OP.

"Find your favorite seat in front of the TV, then measure the distance between your head and the screen. Now measure your screen diagonally. Do you own a 65-inch or 55-inch TV, the most popular sizes? Do you sit 10 feet away or more? Then no, the PS5 Pro is probably not worth $700. Not even if you have 20/20 vision like me. The improved visual fidelity just isn’t tangible enough at that distance"

By the way, the Verge writer seems to think, 20/20 vision ist above average or even perfect vision. And many other people seem to think so, too.

But it is just the average vision... many people have worse vision (which can be corrected in most cases) and many people  have better vision than 20/20.

If someone gets corrective lenses, a good ophthalmologist ("eye doctor") or optician (salesperson of glasses and contact lenses) will of course try to get the best fit for their patient/customer possible... not just enhancing the vision up to "average". Even some people with 20/20 vision get corrective lenses to enhance their vision further.

Therefore nowadays the share of people who already have or can get 20/15 vision is huge:

Yesterday I had my semi-annually eyes checkup, and my vision with glasses is stilll way above average... without my glasses I'm blind as a bat.

People with glasses are indeed sometimes given superhuman vision depending on what lens they need. 20/20 being the average vision makes my point doesn't it, less people will see the difference If that's the average stat.

People have gone very silent since release day. It's hard to find content about pro now.

No, it doesn't.

20/20 is only the average vision, if you ignore the improved vision of people using correction lenses.

Including these corrections, the average vision is better than 20/20.

About 65% of healthy young people are capable of 20/15 vision, even if it’s with glasses or contacts.

And 20/15 or even 20/10 ain't superhuman.

"Famously, WWII fighter pilot Chuck Yeager was thought to have about 20/7 vision-nearly three times better than 20/20. This may be about the physiologic limit for humans"

Screen quality does matter. I get that point. But I also think people are underestimating the impact of fps on gameplay.

Exactly. I was always on the 30fps side, good enough, give me a stable picture first.
Yet after playing Horizon FW in performance pro mode last night, best of both worlds, 60 fps AND a sharp stable picture, game changer for me. Now I can always choose performance mode without any visible degradation of the image.

But the 'other camp' is correct as well. Fidelity mode at 30 fps doesn't look any better from the couch than performance mode. I don't see the difference, which is great for me, just choose performance mode. But if you were expecting to be wowed by better graphics in quality mode, prepare to sit a lot closer!

Now last night I got stuck on a side quest in Burning Shores. I need to find tracks but can't remember how top get into focus mode. I've been fighting machines without the highlight weak points all this time as I can't figure out which button combination to press.

The controls menu doesn't help, but I now see online that you can hold down R3 instead of just pinging it. Maybe that's it. Ugh I hate coming back to games with complex control schemes.

Lot of eye candy at a fluid 60 fps to enjoy on the pro, but still stuck lol.

I got the PsApp working again after installing a 64 bit instance for BlueStacks (I don't have a smart phone, I refuse)
Still way easier to buy a USB-C stick, so many steps getting a screenshot off the PS5 nowadays!
(Save to PsApp on PS5, Save to media folder on PsApp in Bluestacks, Save to Windows from media folder on BlueStacks, all one by one)

Somewhere in the base game, performance pro mode

Burning shores

The waves rolling onto the beach look amazing in performance pro mode.

You can spot the difference between performance and fidelity mode when you zoom in on detail.

30 fps mode

60 fps mode

(I think that's the right order, might be reversed lol)

Anyway not useless at launch. But very expensive just to play fidelity PS5 base mode in performance mode.

Have you tried spiderman 2?  I ask because the pro is suppose to have much better RT.  On the PC, spider 2, RT ultra is such a massive jump.  Looks amazing.

It feels like the PS5 Pro will be what the PS5 was originally promised to be when it first launched. Even then, 30fps still cannot be escaped on such a pricey device.

A linear game like Alan Wake 2 will still have a 30fps mode.

But I know many will still be very appreciative of the consoles capabilities and will feel it was money well spent, but I don’t play enough of my PS5 to be able to justify it. At least I still have a trade in option if I one day change my mind. So it’ll basically be if I’m buying a normal PS5 with a trade in lol

How embarrassing.  Truly pathetic.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Anyone got the Portal? I completely forgot about that thing, wondering now how the PRO will effect this thing.
