Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best Nintendo game that's not a Zelda, Mario, or Metroid game

Fire Emblem Three houses. I mean, I've not played one better than that. I do have a soft spot for the OG Wii sports but yeah, FE three houses is just such a good title, amazing RPG and fantastic strategy and the story is pretty damn good.

I was surprised how far down I had to go to see an Animal Crossing mention. I have never played them but they are really popular. Not sure about outside of this site but I know many here really like Bayonetta and hadn't seen it mentioned at all.

Personally my favorite of recent years is Splatoon 3.

Kid Icarus Uprising. The story, characters and action Is incredible. Bad controls aside it's an amazing game

Mario Kart for sure, but since it's still "Mario", I'd go with either Punch Out or Pikmin for me personally.  Pikmin 4 really impressed me and every home Punch Out game has been great so far, IMO.

the lack of Pikmin in these responses makes me sick.🤒🤒 yall sleeping on the greatest franchise of greatest franchise of all time! (besides Zelda and Mario)

I have only played the first Pikmin, but it was not for me. Did pretty much not like anything with the game and last two hours of the five I spent with the game I played with the TV set on mute because I absolutely hated the music. I know that is a bit extreme and it is the only game I have ever done something like that for.

If the later titles are unrecognizable compared to the first title I miiiight watch a speedrun of it or something. But other than that it stands tall as the best game I dislike the most.

I wouldn't count second party. So first party games, out of those, I'd say Mario Kart is the best. Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Kid Icarus NES, Splatoon and Mike Tyson's Punch Out get a nod, too.

I'd say Splatoon 1 or DKC Tropical Freeze. Both are close to perfection. (Splatoon 1 because it has a better network code and less lag than its successors on Switch).

Same. I'm always surprised when I see people rate Pikmin really highly. I had the original on GC and played it some, it was interesting but wasn't great. I tried the Pikmin 3 demo on Switch and I was like meh, it's okay. I like the Pikmin idea but I haven't found the implementation to be anything above average. Pikmin, Animal Crossing, and Kirby are all series people seem to love but I've always found them just okay at best and certainly not worth $60.
