Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the Switch 2 be revealed this month?

@killer7 But would a reveal in December really kill Christmas sales that much? I feel like more and more of the holiday shopping is done in October & November (especially Black Friday).

@Torpoleon I just have the feeling we won't see it this year. Nintendo never anounced a new system so late in the year. Right now i think a january teaser followed by a march showcase that leads to a may- july release is in the cards. If they do not show it off in january than a march teaser will be followed by a may- july showcase wich leads to a november/ december release. The absolute latest i see is march 2026.

@killer7 That's definitely possible. I just felt like they'd announce it before the end of the year, potentially right before the Game Awards that have had over 80 million viewers for the past few years. But if not December, then I do agree on a January reveal, March or April blowout and then May or June release.

To be fair, we know of Switch releases in January and March, so they could do a trailer in December, blowout in February or April and then release in June. I know that DKCR HD & XCX Definitive Edition aren't huge releases, but still.

@Torpoleon
Only because there are still games releasing for the Switch does not mean Switch Up cannot launch in this timeframe. We all know very well that Nintendo will produce the Switch at least till 2027 and first party support won't cease before 2026 earliest.
I do not think they show anything in 2024.
Game Awards? I don't know. There will be enough fanboys of other systems trashing it regardless of what and how powerful it will be. They will want their own show, to get full attention. Thats what i think.

Timeline for me now that Furukawa didn't mention Switch 2 during the investment meeting:

January-March 2025 reveal.

June-July Presentation with launch games, third party support, hardware new features.

September-October launch.

He did not mention the Switch Up?! If thats really true, forget 2024. January reveal, March Showcase and summer release!

The only thing he said about Switch 2 is that it's still going to be announced this fisical year:

In what context would you have been expecting the Switch 2 to be mentioned?

@deerox
I can only see a teaser in january and a showcase in march followed y a summer release. I think a march release is getting more unlikley as the weeks go by

@killer7 @Otter @Sephiran @Torpoleon if y'all ever wanna add pfp, here's how to do it: Scroll your mouse to your icon in the top right corner of the screen. There should be a "Settings" option. From there, you should find a green box with three horizontal lines in the top right (directly above (and to the right of) the label "Website Preferences"). Click on that box, and five or so options will appear. Press "Avatar Settings". Add whatever photo you want from there. :)
Not saying i have any prejudice against users w/out pfp...but y'all look suspicious, and are far less easy-to-remember than those who do have a pfp. Only posting b/c I know for nearly my first year on this site, I was w/out a pfp b/c I couldn't figure out how to add one.
