I started a five-week vacation on the 2nd of October and bought some goodies to watch during that time. However, prices on 4K blu ray around are insane, and most outlets have rather poor selections. In addition, my vacation has become anything but, since I was hit with kidney stones to help me rest and recover from a long period of tough work (yay!).
Anyhow, this is what I got lately:
Westworld Complete Series (spectacular 4K release, both sound and image are stellar).
Jurassic Park 1-3 box
Back to the Future trilogy - I had no choice since this is the 40th anniversary of the first movie!
Indiana Jones 1-4 (yes number four is a poor comparison to the first three, but I had no choice). Been having some playback issues on The Last Crusade, it's probably a Dolby Atmos issue (I've had many of those).
The Sixth Sense
All Quiet on the Western Front, easily the best war movie I saw since Saving Private Ryan
Terminator 1 and 2 - yes, I know the transfer of the sequel is supposed to be quite poor, but at least it's not True Lies!
Master and Commander
The Truman Show
Lawrence of Arabia - it's finally available again! Got mine for about 45$ now, rather than the 120-150$ used ones from the previous, limited release.
I'm planning on getting these movies and shows next:
Arcane season 1 and 2
2001: A Space Odyssey (there's an excellent Kubrick box available now, with five amazing movies, I think I'll go for it, it also has Barry Lyndon)
Spartacus (the 1960s version)
Schindler's List
The Abyss
Event Horizon
Demolition Man
Dark City
Kingdom of Heaven
Apocalypse Now
Pulp Fiction
The Expanse complete series
Gomorrah complete series
I finished re-watching all of Game of Thrones last week, it's still an amazing show. The final two seasons are a steep drop-off, but still enjoyable. Season six is a lot better than I remembered, I think I may have gotten it stuck in my brain that it was shit due to so many claiming so.
Watched Fellowship of the Ring last night, and I'm watching The Two Towers tonight, and finishing with Return of the King tomorrow night! Overall, kidney stones are best enjoyed with great movies and shows.
