It's next quarter that gets interesting though... as both DS and Wii shipments are going to exceed 10 million in 3 months. And are perhaps going to both exceed 11 million.
According to Nintedo's financial report, they shipped 42.9M Wii software in Americas.
VGChartz has the software from week ending 5th March to 4th October, there was sold 30.3M.
Doesn't that seem very low? 12.6M software still in stores would probably mean somewhere around ~ 1000 Wii games pr store more than what they had by end of Q1.
It's about the same Europe, where the financial report says 32.8M, and VGC has 24.6M
In Japan, it is spot on. The report says 5.7M, VGChartz has 5.3M.
I know that I am here comparing sales vs shipped, but still. When it is so close in Japan, the region VGChartz has best accuracy, why is it so far off in Europe and Americas?
And is it really logical that there are 30M shipped, but not sold software in Americas (I get the number by VGC LTD vs Report LTD), and 27M in Others, when there's just 200K in Japan?

It's worse than that, you said 5th March.... you should be using the first week in April.
It's the totals that show the problem more.
Total software shipped for Wii vs. VGC data (millions of units):
America - 122.25 vs. 92.18
Others - 80.84 vs. 53.24
Japan - 26.76 vs. 23.96 (this one seems reasonable... not sure where you got 200k from though)
Total - 229.85 vs. 169.38
Of course ioi admits that software is incomplete.
Given the difference in Japans numbers and the difference in sizes of America/Others compared to Japan, I would guess the sold figure should be about 7-8 million below shipped in Americas or Others.

Just wanted to point this out for those on the Wii at 50% watch.
Wii - 4.93 million
PS3/X360 - 4.63 million

Vgchartz is really spot on! 
Nintendo has also increased it's forecast for this year. Simply amazing, 2009 will be a hell of a year for them.

Others bigger than Americas for hardware shipments last quarter, Americas ahead in software shipments though.
