4 I beat in a weekend button mashing...3 was super hard and I stopped playing, 1 I can't remember... In any case DMC series is really cool and i like it a lot but it doesn't force you to use much depth if you dont want to. Part 3 was bloody hard but it didn't require much skill...it was just...well hard. I found myself playing the first level 15 times...over and over until I powered up enough to beat the boss. |
Ok, so let me get this straight. You button mashed against Chimera Scarecows, Chimera Assults, Angelos, Mephistos, Faust, every boss and Blitz??? .....That is the biggest steaming lie I've ever heard. Show me some proof. There NO way it would be possible unless you pussied out and put the difficulty on easy. It would be great if you could record it happening, but I could settle for your achievments. I've played DMC4 up to Hell or Hell difficulty and there wasn't too many instances where i could just stand still and mash away to kill someone, but then again, I skiped "human" mode all together.
The reason why you thought DMC3 was hard was because you didn't have ENOUGH skill, not b/c it "didn't take skill" as that would make no sense. IMO DMC3 takes more skill than NG as NG becomes a game of wall jump attacks and jumping instant special attacks when you raise the difficulty.

I did beat it on easy. there is only 2 modes...human and devil and I chose easy cause DMC3 was rediculously hard and I asumed this would be the same.
My goal of the post wasn't to start an argument with a Devil may cry fanatic but to indicate that the gameplay in these games is becoming stagnant for regular gamer. DMC4 while a great game...didn't really offer anything we didn't play before. Heavenly Sword was like watered down God of war with a chick and next gen graphics... the whole scenario of fight and button mash until you get enough orbs to power up and learn a new move is done and done...
I'll see what ninja gaiden 2 does but Ninja gaiden, ninja gaiden black and sigma were all the same game to me. God of War 3 may up the ante too...
In any case, I think Ninja Theory can do better being a 3rd party publisher as they can do whatever they like now.

Devil may cry, god of war, Hevenly sword, ninja gaiden, conan...and new games like viking and upcoming golden axe. Only Ninja Gaiden stands out as a game tat needs any strategy or skill... rest can be beaten by mashing the attack button. So my guess is that Ninja Theory did not want to make Hevenly Sword 2 where Sony ran in the next day after the game was coming out and started screaming "sequel"!!! So they went their own route... |
I'm guessing you didn't play DMC4 much because you won't S rank many missions let alone beat Bloody Palace by mashing buttons in DMC4...
Human and Devil Hunter are the easy modes. Devil Hunter is ok but Human is ridiculously easy.
If you actually bothered to play the game you would have unlock the following modes :
- Son of Sparda, Dante must Die, Heaven or Hell, Hell or Hell, Bloody Palace....
Seriously what point are you trying to drive by making comments like ' I only played this game in real easy mode and I can tell you you can beat it by just buttong smashing '
That's like only playing Ninja Gaiden in Ninja Dog mode ( the ' you suck too bad so we really advice you switch to this mode because your death count is going through the roof mode').
I have 1000/1000 accomplishment (PS3) in DMC4 and I still can't compete with the top players and I sure ain't button mashing...
You can actually get further in Ninja Gaiden without learning most combos. I still can't do Izuna drop and I mainly stick to basic attacks + flying swallow and wall attack spam and of course OLC UT and I have beaten the game in hard mode and have over 20 million scores in Mission Mode...

Hardly. You could argue that it was mediocre, but the game had some great moments... Mainly AfterTouch and the voice acting in Heavenly Sword is unmatched in the gaming world.

Ninja Theory was never a Sony Dev, they were always a 3rd party dev so really this is no surprise.
The only thing I wonder is if Sony retains the rights to the Heavenly sword IP since they published it or if it's still Ninja Theory's IP.

HS was a great game that was way too short and lacked replay value but yes the first play through kicked butt...
I don't think HS was anything close to great, but it did have some great ideas and voice acting.

First of all getting 1000/1000 on a game is quite impressive...you are obviously a big fan of the game.
However this doesn't change my opinion that these games like HS are becoming stagnant as for an average gamer that rents the game for the weekend (like myself) the mechanic of hitting attack over and over to kill the enemy and colecting orbs untill I have enough orbs to power up and get a new attack is becoming "been there done that". I'm sure you could squeze much more out of the game if you go in depth and read guides and tutorials etc...but this is not 90% of the gaming population, including myself. Also, if you look at DMC 1 and DMC 4...minus the graphics and few tweaks here and there (such as nero's arm mechanic which was pretty cool) what has changed?
As far as ninja gaiden vs devil may cry...I like NG more personally as I feel I have more control over whats going on...but this argument has been going on for many years and will continue to do so.
