These hack n' slash adventure games are reaching saturation point. Devil may cry, god of war, Hevenly sword, ninja gaiden, conan...and new games like viking and upcoming golden axe. Only Ninja Gaiden stands out as a game tat needs any strategy or skill... rest can be beaten by mashing the attack button.

I dare you to beat DMC1,3,or 4 on normal difficulty by mashing the attack button. Anyone whos beaten the game would tell you it's impossible, but maybe you found a way?

4 I beat in a weekend button mashing...3 was super hard and I stopped playing, 1 I can't remember...

In any case DMC series is really cool and i like it a lot but it doesn't force you to use much depth if you dont want to. Part 3 was bloody hard but it didn't require much skill...it was just...well hard. I found myself playing the first level 15 times...over and over until I powered up enough to beat the boss.

Ok, so let me get this straight. You button mashed against Chimera Scarecows, Chimera Assults, Angelos, Mephistos, Faust, every boss and Blitz??? .....That is the biggest steaming lie I've ever heard. Show me some proof. There NO way it would be possible unless you pussied out and put the difficulty on easy. It would be great if you could record it happening, but I could settle for your achievments. I've played DMC4 up to Hell or Hell difficulty and there wasn't too many instances where i could just stand still and mash away to kill someone, but then again, I skiped "human" mode all together.

The reason why you thought DMC3 was hard was because you didn't have ENOUGH skill, not b/c it "didn't take skill" as that would make no sense. IMO DMC3 takes more skill than NG as NG becomes a game of wall jump attacks and jumping instant special attacks when you raise the difficulty.

I did beat it on easy. there is only 2 modes...human and devil and I chose easy cause DMC3 was rediculously hard and I asumed this would be the same.

My goal of the post wasn't to start an argument with a Devil may cry fanatic but to indicate that the gameplay in these games is becoming stagnant for regular gamer. DMC4 while a great game...didn't really offer anything we didn't play before. Heavenly Sword was like watered down God of war with a chick and next gen graphics... the whole scenario of fight and button mash until you get enough orbs to power up and learn a new move is done and done...

I'll see what ninja gaiden 2 does but Ninja gaiden, ninja gaiden black and sigma were all the same game to me. God of War 3 may up the ante too...

In any case, I think Ninja Theory can do better being a 3rd party publisher as they can do whatever they like now.

PS. Below is my achievement for DMC4...gamer tag bimmy123. :)
