Anyways

Anyone watching the female gymnastics All-around finals?

The Fucking GOAT.

We should have a proper Olympics Thread if people want to talk about it.

Americans on this site could be celebrating the GOAT above instead of complaining!!!

God punished the US because Simone was wearing a pagan symbol, otherwise we would have swept all 3 medals in the all-around competition.

LMAO !!....;)

Nobody cares if your a first responder or what your beliefs in other religions are let ppl believe what they believe in u been brainwashed to believe science is the only way nobody is attacking u for it I probably get banned for this don't care this site sucks anyway but I'd punch ur teeth in if u stood infront of me

Science is not a belief. Science is a method to find truth using evidence, testing and repeatable verification from other parties.

Letting people "believe what they want to believe" is an erroneous way of thinking that enables false information to propagate unabated... And in extreme cases, will get people killed.
I.E. Believing your car can fly, doesn't make it true, so do NOT drive over a cliff... But science has proven said car cannot fly thanks to physical laws like Gravity.
Having your beliefs challenged is a healthy thing in life, it's a fundamental way to learn and grow.

But if your only rebuttal is immature threats and abuse, you have already lost the discussion. - Feel free to take all your alts and leave the site permanently if you dislike it so much.

I normally watch more Olympics, but it's just reminding me of Western double standards each time I turn it on :/

Russian and Belarusian athletes who qualified for the Olympics can participate as “neutral” athletes, without national flags, emblems, or anthems. The athletes must not have actively supported the war in Ukraine and must not be contracted to any military or security agency. As a result, a limited number of Russian athletes (15, according to a July 2024 report) will compete at the Paris Olympics, but not under their own flag or with national emblems or anthems.

Israel should be held to the same standard.

I'm just here for these two.
One is decked out with a special scope and a toy elephant.

The other has no special scope, no ear protection, eye protection, has his hand in his pocket, and still won Silver.

The Vatican has released a statement on the opening ceremony:

"The Holy See was saddened by certain scenes at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games and can only join the voices that have been raised in recent days to deplore the offense given to many Christians and believers of other religions.

In a prestigious event where the whole world comes together around common values there should not be allusions ridiculing the religious beliefs of many people.

Freedom of expression, which is obviously not called into question, finds its limit in respect for others."

Though Israel situation is horrible, it takes time to take such decisions. The fact that the (western) world is more and more speaking about sanctions for Israel is progress.

Reacting too fast may give out the wrong signal to people (like some who will use it to propagate antisemitism). Balance is needed when you are managing international events and armed conflicts.

So was there something other than the scene people mistakenly thought was the last supper? I was kind of expecting the Vatican to do their research a bit so I'm hoping that they're referencing something else.

...

With the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games ending on Sunday night... Here are a few thoughts for the next games in LA in 2028..

Keep any reference to any religion out of the opening and closing ceremonies.  Focus on the games and the athletes.

Play music during all of the gymnastics events.  Those athletes don't need the crowd saying "shush" to each other, they already have the weight of the world on their shoulders.  Why punish them more?

Well, this Olympics has been a lot of fun to watch. First we had dionysus show his bozack to the world and got to have a laugh, then we had those memorable shooters, and also the gymnasts doing some crazy stuff. Me and my girlfriend just watched the breakdancing competition, that was pretty cool.

I don't know how I feel about breakdancing in the Olympics yet
