Thanks kindly. I'll be alright, I'm just not motivated to do politics much anymore.

I definitely understand that reaction. I've kind of felt the same way. It feels like the system doesn't really work, so, while I'll keep voting, I have lost faith it the system as a solution to all of the problems I care about.

I'm not really sure what there is to do outside of it though. I have some money to give, so I'll be looking into (preferably local) charities but it is hard to throw money into a black box...

I feel like we need a powerful movement in this country towards individual action. A lot of leftism is focused on systemic change, and for good reason, but I don't think we should lose focus of the amount of good one person can do.

As for gaming, one of my favorite narratives is Transistor (by the people who made Bastion, Pyre and Hades). Beautiful game with one of my favorite game soundtracks, a great story and a real fun combat system!

Oh, thanks for the reminder. I loved that game and the end credits song is one of the best of any game music.

Reaching the end and then getting that song, I never felt so satisfied completing a game.

I'll be downloading this on the pro, good test for BC boost mode :)

And indeed, it's better to focus on local improvements than stuff you can't do much about. Engage with the county, feedback on local projects has much more effect than voting once every 4 years. (Also bought by big business but that's capitalism)

I'll join the Transistor fan club, I felt like I was navigating beautiful paintings.

What a shame. Needlessly dragging out the war in Ukraine in fear of humiliating Putin or whatever excuses we’ve been hearing instead of ending the war early on one hand as well as arming a genocide on the other hand. It wasn’t worth it.

I only added in FB at the end of the post in reply to him saying:  "If you ignore right wing radio, and right wing internet media."

FB is left wing social media.

You are lying!

Facebook has a right-wing bias: https://english.elpais.com/science-tech/2023-07-27/right-wing-bias-a-macro-study-confirms-that-facebook-disinformation-is-consumed-by-conservatives.html

Same goes for youtube:
https://www.theregister.com/2022/10/18/youtube_algorithm_conservative_content/

And, same goes for Twitter even before it was acquired by Musk:

https://theconversation.com/twitters-algorithm-favours-the-political-right-a-recent-study-finds-175154
https://www.theverge.com/2021/10/22/22740703/twitter-algorithm-right-wing-amplification-study

These sites might flag obvious far-right lies or ban radical right-wing lunatics that violate their terms of service, but only after the algorithms have promoted the garbage content to top feed.

Really? Well here's a true story for you.  Back in February 2021, I good friend of mine, who is also a die hard MAGA fanboy, hosted an 18th birthday party for his only daughter.  However, I did not see his mass FB invite until the week after the party.  Whereas I got all of his previous FB invites to other parties.

My best explanation is that FB suppressed the invite because they did want to promote mass gatherings while Covid was still rampant.

Am I still lying?

Probably best to just move on

You tell him that he has a drinking problem. It's honest and true, so it's the morally right thing to do.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
