While Xbox Series may not reach Xbox 360 numbers in Japan, it's already the second best-selling Xbox console over there, and it still has a way to go.

Not too shabby.

I used to be well aware that NPD's estimates (Era and installbase) and Vgchartz's US numbers were always far apart (constant consistency; PS is underestimated and Xbox is greatly overestimated), so the term using NPD Circana's numbers sounded pretty sounded ridiculous.

Furthermore, even after the NPD estimates were obtained, the reflections and revisions to vgchartz were always minimal.

Vgchartz never actually had any respect for NPD.

Also, Matt Piscatella does not publish hardware numbers, so his contribution to vgchartz's credibility would be minimal.

It is nice to see Xbox having some minor success in Japan. Especially after the Xbox One basically being dead from day one. Japan is the one place the Xbox Series X|S is doing much better than the Xbox One did. I could see it possibly getting up to 1 million lifetime depending on when the next-gen Xbox launches.
