The price hike really did hurt sales. Before it I was thinking it was more likely squeak across 40 million by the end as long as the next Xbox didn't release until 2027. But at this point? Not looking good. Even with less than 7 million to go.

So being outsold by Xbox One this month by almost 2.5:1.
Sony launching a PS5 discount just after the price hike (started 28th of may and it's STILL going) was something. PS5 Slim Digital CoD bundle has been $399 since May 28th, Xbox Series X Digital price increased to $549. That's $150 cheaper with a free game thrown in.
If the PS5 selling over 5 times the Xbox in May seemed like a lot, June should be even higher with that price difference running the entire month.

Xbox as a dedicated hardware platform is pretty much over. That word, to me at least, sits alongside Valve, EA and other third party publishers. I can't think of them in any other way now.

Yeah I think it's not a question of whether XBS consoles will make it to 40 mil, but will they be discontinued before GTA 6 releases? Normally when consoles that sell like this they're discontinued within a year

If their new consoles are launching sooner rather than later for the 25th anniversary, it is possible it could be discontinued to push for a big launch coinciding with GTA 6's release.

Isn't the new console running windows?
