The new trailer just dropped for Legendary Picture's followup to Godzilla vs Kong.

Releases 29th of March 2024.

In a world where Shimo and Skar King make Darth Vader look like a friendly neighbor, forget about popcorn, you might need a hard hat and a seatbelt to watch this one, because when Shimo and Skar King are in town, no building is safe! lol. I can't wait to see this.

Just got back from watching it.

It's remarkable just how wildly different this one is to last year's Minus One. Where that film was a deep, dark, and deadly serious take on the character, The New Empire is a gloriously campy romp that throws all pretensions of seriousness out the window.

The result is great fun, a film that knows its target audience and delivers exactly what they want; colourful kaiju action from wall to wall. I'd actually give it a slight edge over 2021's Godzilla vs Kong due to handling its cheesier elements with more confidence and taste.

It's about as deep as a puddle, but if you just wanna leave your brain at the door and enjoy yourself, it's fabulous entertainment.
