Yes it is, you made the claim, the burden of proof is on you.

I expect no matter what I or anyone says you'll just handwave it away, but just a few:

I thought the discussion was about celebrities but you’re right some of those are pretty fucked up examples, being fired or kicked out of college for being a Trump supporter isn’t right.

However I will push back on one of them, we were talking about people being cancelled for having “conservative views”, I don’t think the example of a girl saying the N word applies unless “the right to say the N word” is a conservative value lol still agree that it’s going overboard to rescind their acceptance over saying it as a dumb 15 year old.

I mean saying the n word is wrong, but when it's a 15 year saying it without directing it at someone, I feel like cancellation is excessive. We've all said and done dumb, rude, inappropriate things when we were kids. I feel like that's a whole different kettle of fish than say an adult calling another person the same word.

I should have clarified I meant this more as an example of of the excesses of left wing cancel culture more than this being technically a "conservative view".

It's very simple, when it comes to one of the biggest issues of today (and not some court ruling of 40+ years ago - heck, MAGA did not exist before 2016), Reagan Republicans (RR) support giving aid to Ukraine and MAGA Republicans (MR) do not. That is the major difference between these two factions.

I’m not saying they are exactly the same, the point is that Trump & MAGA didn’t just appear out of thin air, it’s the natural result of half a century of using dog whistles about things like states rights, crime, welfare queens, family values & school choice to appeal to racists & the Christian right while scaring white moderates into believing their way of life was under attack.

As the country has gotten more diverse, less religious & more tolerant, the rhetoric had to be ratcheted up and now a large portion of the Republican Party is openly bigoted and actively trying to strip rights from anybody not a straight, white, Christian male.

Both sides take different approaches to cancel culture.

I'm not a trump supporter, but the sake of a point, if I were there is a 0.0% chance I would show up to work with Trump sticker on my car. I would feel perfectly fine with a Biden sticker.

Some noted Dems are calling for Biden to drop out. Biden is already losing the polls and now the party is splitting. Great strategy and well done liberals. I unfortunately see Trump winning pretty easily.

I guess things like that will vary by location because I live in a relatively small, mostly white town and see a lot of pro-Trump stickers & flags and “Let’s Go Brandon”/“I did that!” Stickers & yard signs.

Im in Illinois so also a lot of “Fuck Pritzker” signs.

Same here.
I feel like it'd be worse to have a Biden sticker.

Heck, some people who are probably going to vote for Biden would probably still think it was weird to have a sticker.

Even at the workplace?  At the workplace Trump support is a no go, at least in my experience.  Around the neighborhood is a different story.

That's parenting, every generation is getting more accepting of everyone.  What a 15 year old said 20 years ago is not what a 15 year old says today.  It's parenting, if my kid ever said something racists I would shut that down immediately.  It's the parents that laugh, encourage, or tells their kids everyone's a little racist that is is gong to have their kids say awful things that will have repercussions on the kid not the parents.
