Hey team,

As some of you know I am not the best writer. I have a startup business creating websites and now that I have a couple of other sites done, I have added one of my own. If some of you more eloquent writers could give me any assitance or some additional information that may be good to see on a website like mine it would be very appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey.
I'm an English major, I spend more of my spare time writing than gaming and, most importantly, I love to write. So are you looking for just a more dynamic rewrite of what's already up on the page? Or additional stuff? Either way, I'll try and bust out a few samples and send them your way, and you can tell me if you like them.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Thanks blaydcor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not necessarily the advice you're looking for but... I don't think your web developer skills are strong enough to make a business of it.

On your home website, you've successfully forgotten to close every one of your line-breaks, added an attributes that don't exist  to two a tags, and it appears that you don't understand what a doctype is.  Your website is also just short of being viewable in the 800x600 resolution which is still the minimum viewing resolution to target for the widest audience.

These mistakes are very obvious and they severely damage any credibility you're trying to gain from your portfolio page.  If you're even making mistakes with basic HTML and CSS, why should someone trust you for anything more complex?

That probably came off as really harsh and I didn't mean it to.  I do wish you luck with your business.  ^_^

Well he could change it to HTML strict and most of the errors would go away ;)

And 1024x78 is the most popular screen res. I think 800x600 is less than 10%, so I say screw them.

Hey no problem.

1. I don't think there are that many websites out there that still force themselves to be less than 800x600, so I deliberately went slightly larger. In fact I just randomly went to 10 different big box retail chains websites and none of them fit in that resolution. Heck, vghcartz is wider than the sites I have created.

2. Most people are not like you. They won't run pages though html and css validators. I plan on targeting small business and people who literally have no idea. (i.e. the mass) Though you do make a good point that I should still ensure that it is valid based on my doctype so, I will fix that tonight.

Generally retail websites and website that run with a lot of ads tend to be very wide.  800x600 isn't a requirement by any means, just something to consider.  Your website doesn't have much content and really doesn't need to be that wide so shortening it might not be a bad idea especially considering the level of technology your target audience may have.  ^_~

Awesome.  They're minor errors though I'm still quite confused as to why you moved the target attribute into the CSS file...

Bump. Help the man out guys.
