GOW

Spider man and GOW also support it but FS3 is using supposed to rival DSLL stil too early but impressions seem positive.

Well those are a few exclusive games and cannot be played on Nintendo consoles anyway.

I think your point was that PS and XB have FSR and would be able to dwarf Switch's DLSS with multiplat games.

Oh you might want to check out another thread.  Soundwave thinks the switch 2 will run FFVII Remake like the ps5.  When I asked why nobody else is using the chipset other than Nintendo his answer was nVidia doesn't want to play with small players.  People believe it.

And isn't the entire thread based on the premise the switch 2 behind closed door had visuals that rivals the ps5 and series x?

"The demo is said to have been running using Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling technology, with advanced ray tracing enabled and visuals comparable to Sony‘s and Microsoft’s current-gen consoles"

So how am I exaggerating when the entire thread is literally about matching the ps5 in visual fidelity?

you're conflating the word you're personally using, "rival," with the word that was actually used, "comparable." i don't think this article is claiming the insides of the switch 2 will match the ps5, more so that with the help of DLSS and some of the already basically confirmed leaks, it can look like ps5.

i'm also sure that eurogamer and VGC didn't have time to pixel count or look at things in an incredibly detailed way.

not to mention, the FFVII remake looks incredibly similar on the ps4 and ps5. looking at a screen demo would not reveal heavy differences even if you looked at those two in two separate rooms on two different days. it's splitting hairs at that point.

So if DLSS can take significantly weaker hardware and massively improve the visuals...  why is nobody using this amazing tech?  Steam Deck, Rog Ally, Legion Go, etc?

And disagree on FFVII on the ps5.  1620p at 60 fps with quite a bit more detail.

At the end of the day I think this tech is being oversold.  If it was as game changing as claimed, we would see it be leveraged far more than it is.

You 100% nailed it. it's your typical annoying hyperbowl like fp16 BS.

Yep.  And everyone is ignoring DLSS increases latency, especially the more it scales.  And switch 2 is likely to have a CPU bottleneck when it comes to AAA games for the ps5/Xbox.  Not to mention VRAM, memory speeds, etc.

DLSS is cool, I've played with it.  But it is being overhyped.

AMD makes both x86 cpu and powerful GPUs for gaming.
AMD is the only such company.

That is why many companies choose AMD chips.

DLSS is a feature exclusive to Nvidia GPUs, they do not make x86 cpus.

I know.  But this DLSS is so amazing everyone is sticking with the vastly inferior and power hungry AMD chips?  That doesn't seem odd?

Also DLSS isn't a graphic setting that is toggled and just works....  software has to be developed to use it.  Games can't be simply ported and DLSS just works automatically.

It's exclusive do Nvidia GPUs because you need hardware that's only available on them. The Steam Deck and all handheld PCs use x86 AMD or Intel hardware. The Switch 2 is going to have the rumored Tegra T239, an ARM chip. Handhelds PCs don't use ARM chips because I'm not too sure if Steam would work too well on ARM. The Steam games are made using the x86 architecture so for it to work you'd need a translation layer, meaning you'd lose performance.

I know.  The point is Nintendo and only Nintendo sees the value in DLSS and everyone else is stupid?  You don't find it odd literally nobody is going this route?

I leave it at this, given there is no need to repeat myself...  if this tech was as good as people are making it out to be....  more than just Nintendo would be lining up.

I guess it's just easier and cheaper for Sony and Microsoft to just stick to AMD, since they provide both the GPU and CPU of the PS/Xbox consoles, instead of getting an Nvidia GPU and an AMD CPU. It also makes sense for Nintendo to stick with Nvidia since they can make ARM chips for them, and now there's the DLSS advantage.

One should also consider that nvidia has much more money than AMD and is not as interested in the custom chip business as AMD.
