I'll do a little assessment now that the event is all over.
For GOTY winners I've played all of them since 1994. For runners-up it's a bit of a jumble (but around two thirds)
Years I agree most with: 1995, 2004, 2007, 2018
Pretty much my exact ranking for those years.
Years I disagree most with: 1999, 2001, 2003, 2016
Significantly better picks for those (imo) would be Pokémon Gold & Silver, MGS2 or Melee, Tales of Symphonia and Persona 5 respectively.
