Forums - Gaming Discussion - What year should we consider the dawn of gaming?

1981 was a dawn of gaming too when you think about it.

I prefer to list the years based on Donkey Kong, which would be 1 ADK or 1 AD. This year is 43 AD. Pong came out in 9 BC.
The name BC stands for “Before Christ” since Donkey Kong was the anointed Christ of video games, although history has shown his enemy, Mario, to be taking all the glory of the Kongdom of Heaven.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to get preachy :(

Donkey Kong is Jesus, Mario is Paul.

Alternatively, Donkey Kong is Pontius Pilate and Mario is Jesus. Or Herod the Great and Jesus. Or Herod Archelaus and Jesus. I feel like we need to investigate video game theology a little further. After three years, Mario rose from the empty tomb to wash away Atari's sins and provide humanity's gaming salvation.

Either way, I like the Jumpinian calendar that has just been proposed and believe that all gaming history should be dated forward and backward from DK.

I always preferred Donkey Kong to Mario anyway. He stood out to me more because he was a gorilla instead of just another human.
