Factor 5 seems to be the most logical choice when you put the pieces together. Retro is probably already working on something else. They have been done with Metriod Prime for a while now and are most likely busy bringing us their next great adventure game for the Wii. That and the Graphics comment kinda cement it for me.

Wikipedia thinks it is Factor 5.

What do you guys think, will Kid Icarus come out in 2008 or 2009?

And what will the sales be like? The last console version of Kid Icarus was in the 80's so it is tough to compare it to anything recent.

The sales will depend on its reception at E3 and coverage by mainsteam press. It'll likely hit at the end of 08, and if I had to guess, I'd say it'll sell gangbusters. Every Nintendo fanboy will buy it, and now there are far more Nintendo fanboys than there used to be.

I think a lot of people assumed Retro was making Kid Icarus because it was the only big Nintendo IP remaining that fit their style, but what's to stop retro from making a new franchise?

Kid Icarus practically is a new franchise. Whoever develops it could have a lot of freedom with the IP depending on Nintendo's perspective.

On topic though, yeah, I think people just want it to be Retro, but it's probably Factor 5. The Nintendo Team at IGN rather like Retro Studios: they wouldn't be so skeptical about the gameplay if it was them. Although now that I think about it, didn't they say in an earlier podcast that the game was in good hands? And wasn't Factor 5's game supposed to be "casual" (*shudder*) and published by a third party? I know for sure that Factor 5 was trying to get the Kid Icarus project back in January, but I haven't heard what they've been up to since...
