I don't know if anyone remembers playing Gran turismo on playstation, there was a unlockable 60fps mode to my eyes the 60fps mode was mind blowing. It was like going from 480p to 1080, it was such a massive difference as kid. |
I always thought it was 60fps already, I guess 30fps never bothered me. 1080i mode in GT4, that I did find very cool.
GT7 now has a 120fps mode, yet the couple pro racers I know are sticking to 60fps for better visual clarity. fps isn't everything and a lot of games are about planning ahead, which means being able to see clearly further ahead is a must.
I guess I never got used to 60fps and higher as it still feels weird to me (outside VR and side scrollers). I prefer 3D screen games at 30 fps, prioritizing draw distance and image stability.
