Forums - Website Topics - Copy/Pasting articles from other websites...

I've noticed more and more recently that Soriku goes straight down the gonintendo topic list copying the contents of every article and posting them without even adding any comments on the article.

Is this okay?  Is it encouraged?

I'm just kind of wondering how long it'll be before I find every article from every gaming website as a forum topic... ^_~

Around the Network

I do it sometimes from n4g when there is something interesting and i need a source. It is a bit annoying to see a whole list of topics copy and pasted though from other sites.

I also notice this so I ask soriku why he posted articles of other sites if we all have access to them.He never replied back.

I do but only when it's big news. Not every single tiny article off of a site. That's what the news section is for, news. Big stories like the delays, or updates on huge games are really only forum worthy.

I always do it, I see nothing wrong with it. We are bringing the news to the good members of VGChartz and the journalists and sites are gaining recognition. Posting a comment may be a good idea, but who cares when the article is interesting.

The forum rules say not to do it unless we add our 2 cents on the original article.

I think its ok if you link the original source, I do that sometimes whenever I post news

its not a big deal Ive done it before

Meh I think its somewhat of a waste. We can all make accounts on gonintedo and IGN and post our thoughts over on their website if we want. It is actually a violation of a rule under Substance that we are not supposed to just post links and articles. We should give opinions that spark discussions and such. For some reason the mods never do anything about it though. It kind of sucks. If mods don't enforce rules, than people dont see a reason to abide by them. Same principle is given in the real world of copyrights. If you dont defend your copyright and take legal action against someone who is using your intellectual property without permission, YOU could lose your copyright. If mods dont enforce rules, they are as good as lost.
